Welcome to part 2 of our best birthday bashes for kids! We've got play centres, pirates, pizza-making and lots more for all ages.

Freezing Fun
First up is a very cool party (we just had to...) at Snow City where kids can ski, slip, or slide on the snow. The snow tubes are a blast! Older ones will love this.
Where: Snow City Building, 21 Jurong Town Hall, Road, Singapore 609433, p. 6560 2306

Ooh Arr, Me Hearties!
Centre Stage will put on a fabulous Pirates Party with games and a treasure hunt. Their friends will go crazy when they find out Jake and Izzy are the stars of the show.
Where: Centre Stage, School of the Arts, Block 15 Woking Road, Singapore 138694, p. 6732 7211

Get Up and Go
At Go Go Bambinis, we like the Mad Science Young Wizards Party (ages 7+) with indoor fireworks, or Dino-Dig Party (ages 6+) where the kids dig out a dinosaur fossil. There're loads more themes and even wine for the grown-ups.
Where: Go Go Bambinis, Blk 8 Dempsey Road, #01-15, Tanglin Village, Singapore 247696, p. 6474 4176

Go Wild
Throw them a wild party at Amazonia. That's 9,500 square feet of pure fun at Great World City with a jungle play gym, 3D glow-in-the dark mini-golf and Spaceball room, and perhaps a visit from their dinosaur mascot.
Where: Amazonia, Great World City Mall, Level 3 Unit #03-08, 1 Kim Seng Promenade,
Singapore 237994, p. 6235 4522

Let's Get Cooking
Over on the East Coast, kids will love the Junior Chef Party at Polliwogs. They'll make pizzas and Ice cream Sundaes, whilst grown ups chill out by the beach. Ahh, heaven!
Where: Polliwogs, 1020 East Coast Parkway, Singapore 449878, p. 6442 2805

Here to Play
Or there's The Bub's Hub playground Play n' Dine parties with face and body painting, glitter tattoos or nail art too, and healthy food from Brussels Sprouts. Yum!

Play Date
For a fine party out West, Fidgets is the place with plenty of space to play, games, dancing, and parties for under 3s too.
Where: Fidgets, 200 Turf Club Road, #04-05 Turf City, Singapore 287994, p. 6466 7611

Happy Days
Or there's an enchanted party at Happy Willow, the fab new play centre at Fusionopolis, with a treasure hunt and games for the kids whilst parents chill out (for short while anyway).
Where: Happy Willow, 1 Fusionopolis Way, Fusionopolis, #B1-06, Singapore 138632, p. 6466 6300

Arty Party
Let creativity flow with an art party at Abrakadoodle. Choose a theme like the Model Magic Party, where they'll sculpt dragons or aliens.

Yummy Scrummy
Littlies can bake their own cupcakes with a Mini Chef's party at The Pantry at Loewen Gardens. Older ones can cook up a storm with a 3-course meal. De-licious!

Think you're doing everything right but still can't shake off that midday slump?
It's time to go low GI.

First up, this GI has nothing to do with the action figures you played with when you were younger. The Glycaemic Index ranks carbohydrates according to their effect on your blood glucose levels. High GI carbs cause glucose levels to spike and drop quickly, resulting in that 3pm slump. But low GI foods steady your glucose levels, giving you longer-lasting energy and keeping hunger at bay.

Switching to low GI carbs can be tricky (not to mention hard to find here), so The Travelling Dietitian has given us great tips on going low GI in the city.

1. Switch to basmati rice
Basmati rice, usually used in Indian cooking, has a lower GI than regular white rice. Most major supermarkets stock it or you can buy it in quantities you need at several stores in Little India or Tekka Market.
Tekka Centre, 665 Buffalo Rd, Singapore 210665

2. Choose low GI fruits
Snack on apples, oranges, pears, grapefruit, peaches, plums, mangoes, bananas, and even durian. They all have a low GI if you limit them to one piece at a time (or 4 small seeds of durian or ½ mango).

3. Eat whole rolled oats for breakfast
These have a much lower GI than instant oats. The biggest and best can be found at vegetarian gem, Genesis, but most major supermarkets also stock the traditional whole rolled oats such as Quakers.
Genesis Health Food, 1 Lorong Telok, Singapore 049014, Mon-Thu 8am-8pm, Fri and Sun 8am-3pm, p. 6438 7118

4. Go for grains
The grainier the bread the better, as digesting whole grains takes time! Multigrain breads are available at supermarkets but if you like yours a little less sweet, try the German Vollkorn or Multigrain loaf at Baker & Cook or the Multigrain or Soya Linseed breads at Swissbake.
Baker & Cook, 77 Hillcrest Road Greenwood Singapore 288951, Sun-Thu 7am-8pm, Fri-Sat 7am-10pm, p. 6469 8834
Swissbake, available at several retail outlets, p. 6266 0292 or e. contact@swiss-bake.com.sg

5. Bulk up your meal with lentils and pulses
Chickpeas, lentils and beans are a cheap and easy way to make your meal more filling. Buy them canned or dried in the supermarket or wet market.

6. Snack on dairy products
Dairy snacks such as yoghurt, a glass of milk or a fruit smoothie make for a filling, low GI snack that's sure to stop your stomach growling in your 4pm meeting.

These healthy tips were brought to you by The Travelling Dietitian, e. vanessa@thetravellingdietitian.com or p. 9295 0658, a Singapore-based dietitian, offering in-home or in-office consultations and programs to ensure you & your family are eating right.

So it's been a long week at work and you just want to spend Friday night on the couch with some beer and a bag of chips... except there's none in your fridge.

Or maybe you just returned from a weekend away and are in dire need of some essentials... once again, the cupboards are empty. Familiar story? We hear you.

The solution - the new online grocer RedMart , a revolutionary store that delivers straight to your doorstep within 6 hours!

RedMart carries a huge selection of household essentials, groceries, and personal care products. Looking for your favourite European beer, wine or sparkling water? Find it here. There's also a huge assortment of cereals, pasta, snacks, shampoo, skincare, laundry detergent... even Panadol (these RedMart guys are thoughtful)!

We personally put RedMart to the test and ordered a week's worth of groceries. We loved the zippy website and easy-peasy process!

We enjoyed the simple check out - no waiting in ridiculously long lines at the supermarket and wrestling with heavy groceries in the carpark or worse into a taxi. We opted to pay on delivery, so we didn't even need to fiddle around with entering our credit card details - big plus!

RedMart delivered everything to us within the 2 hour delivery slot we chose - no waiting at home forever to get your delivery! Their deliveries are always on time and accurate. It's as simple as their tagline: "Click. Click. Done." Plus, if you order before 10am, you'll get it delivered within six hours.

RedMart also offers free delivery on orders above $75, which isn't hard to chalk up if you're ordering your groceries for the week. Orders below $75 incur a $5 deliver fee. You can choose to pay by credit card online or even opt for cash, cheque or CC on delivery.

Try it for yourself! Right now they're offering 10% off your entire grocery bill - just enter the code HONEY01 at check out.

Simple, convenient, and easy. We love!

Shop RedMart online.

Remember the last time you went to school, had fun, learnt something you could actually use, and didn't have to pay a single cent?

Yep - neither do we. But there's a new school on the block that's about to make that happen.

Folks, meet trade school singapore.

Yes, this school offers fun classes, and you can take 'em for free! (We know, sounds totally unreal.)

Instead of paying for classes, students barter for knowledge - they fulfill teachers' wish lists by "paying" for classes with items that teachers request. And while that just sounds like using what would have been school fees to pay for items, these wish lists are made up of anything from a hug, to a new book, to a handwritten letter.

Founded in New York City, there are now many chapters all around the world (including London and Milan), but trade school singapore is the very first in the Asia-Pac region. The inaugural season will be held at our favorite creative workspace, Kennel., from 8 June to 21 June 2012. Psst, working folks - the classes are held after office hours so there's no excuse!

Choose from a variety of classes that emphasize practical knowledge (something you don't usually find in schools either): language classes, techie know-how, or basic photography. Alternatively, pick up a new skill like tote-making, zine-making, martial arts, or even collage art.

You'll also get to meet an eclectic bunch of teachers. Since the only requirement to be a teacher is to be passionate, anyone from amateur hobbyists to industry professionals can get to teach! So if you're not ready to turn your cookie-making skills or nifty car mechanic knowledge into a business, why not consider sharing your trade secrets with someone else?

Remember all the times you had to move? From the packing and the cleaning, to the paper cuts and the misplaced homewares - the process is a total nightmare. And if you're moving to a new country, there are tedious (and very intimidating) tasks like visa applications and real estate hunting to tackle.

Take it from us: Santa Fe Relocation Services will make moving anywhere in the world a total cinch.

These guys have revolutionized the art of moving.

They'll handle everything from visa applications to school hunting and property searching. They'll even relocate the family pet! To make the process dead simple, they conduct a needs assessment to determine what you're looking for, then take the hard work out of your hands by scouring the country for your new home. You make the decision and they settle the paperwork.

Moving is never a laborious process with Santa Fe around. They send a team to your place to wrap, pack and log everything you want to move. Moving that doesn't involve us lifting even a finger? Count us in.

Upon arrival in your new country of residence, another team helps you to unpack, assemble furniture, and even add homey touches like framed photographs on walls - talk about great customer service.

But the relocation service doesn't end there. Throughout your entire time in the country, Santa Fe makes life hassle-free by managing the daily nitty-grittys like lease contracts, insurance policies, school registration, housing and car payments.

You also get to be privy to the latest in town and get invites to exclusive Santa Fe Insider events - everything from cocktail parties to networking sessions. Culture shock? You'll never have to worry about that with Santa Fe around.

All right, serial shoppers - it's game time. Here's part two of navigating next weekend's shopping bonanza, and this time we're all about Blueprint.

Imagine more than 200 womenswear, menswear, and accessory brands from around the world all in one place. Plus, they'll be offering sample, seasonal and limited sales! Hello-o, As you can imagine, it's a total knock-out, so let's get acquainted with our top picks and the designers you must know.

Yeojin Bae (AU)
Honestly, we've never met an Australian designer we didn't like. Yeojin Bae's line of womenswear is a confluence of urban chic and classic silhouettes. Not one for trends? Definitely snoop this label out - it's contemporary cool and totally wearable.

Nikicio (ID)
We've watched this multi award-winning designer grow over the couple of years and have loved her since day one. Both menswear and womenswear available but we much prefer the menswear - perfect for that sharp but casual weekend wardrobe.

possi-tilly-ty (SG)
Tilly Soelistyo, the talent behind possi-tilly-ty, is all about the fit. If you're a fan of drapey, comfortable, and versatile clothing - here's your answer. This affordable line of womenswear has the right blend of daytime casual and nighttime glamour - all you need is a change of lipstick.
Tip: possi-tilly-ty will be offering 20% off the Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Blueprint.

VENNA (HK)
Get a load of this, accessories junkies. If you're always on the prowl for statement-making, head-turning, effortlessly cool pieces, then you need to hit up bling mecca, VENNA. Every piece is 100% handmade and detailed with rich colours (which we're all about right now).

Ong Shunmugam (SG)
We've gushed about her multiple times, but really - have you seen her work? Stunning and smart! We can't wait to see her latest collection - Ong-Shunmugam's artisanal dresses are the perfect equation of great tailoring, subtle sexiness, individuality, and confidence.

Ostwald Helgason (UK)
Prints, please - and let's not be shy about it. If you're a bold dresser, you'll enjoy the structured creations of Ostwald Helgason. Formed by duo Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason, the line is fresh, playful, clean, but very, very bold. Right up our alley!

Come next weekend, you'll be laying hands on both local and international labels (from local talent Ong Shunmugam to UK-based Pointer Footwear) because both Blueprint and The Brandery Asia will be open to shoppers!

Not familiar with the concept? We'll break it down for you.

The Brandery Asia is an extension of the established Brandery show from Barcelona, Spain. Think of it as an international launch pad for urban, street, and casual labels looking to gain a foothold on the Asian market - which makes you a totally savvy shopper by attending. Plus, there will be samples and discounts on items which regular retailers won't have - need you hesitate any longer?

Here are our top three picks you must check out:

Pointer Footwear
If you're sick of those trendy limited edition sneakers out there, Pointer is your answer. They design simple, well-designed casual shoes for both men and women that will take you from brunch to a night out in town. 'Cos hey, if you're going to sport a pair of sneakers, why not choose the best right?
Tip: 40% off past season shoes. Free stickers and tote bags with every purchase. This is the first time Pointer is going on sale in Singapore.

BAGGU
We cannot overstate our love for BAGGU. Chuck one of their stylish eco-friendly bags in your handbag and you'll never ask for another plastic bag again. BAGGU's bags are lead-free and ethically made, and though they look delicate, they're tough as nails. Perfect, isn't it? Their colourful backpacks make great bookbags for kids, and their leather range is to die for. It's like Céline on a dime - must buy!
Tip: 20% off all Baggu bags. This is the first time Baggu is going on sale in Singapore.

Martina Pink
Dull officewear got you down? Perk outfits up with quirky Martina Pink shoes! With handcrafted embellishments, lively prints, contrast colouring, and vintage-inspired styles from the 50s and 60s, these shoes are total statement-makers.
Tip: All shoes at 50% off.

Other labels at the Brandery Asia include: Library, Island Shop, Custo Barcelona, N. Tyler, Munich, Per Me, Hailey & Sasha, Flesh Imp, FEMMEX, Feiyue, Cora Lingerie, Pachelbel Fashionista, Les Affaires, and Etiquette Clothiers.

Watch out for tomorrow's fashion report: we'll give you the lowdown on Blueprint (co-located in the same space as The Brandery Asia).

These days tiny tots demand big birthday parties. Whatever they wish for - pirates, ponies, balloons or bubbles, we've selected some of the best birthday parties in town.

This week it's all about having fun in the fresh air.

Foam Fun
For a splashing birthday by the beach, head to brand new Port of Lost Wonder Kids Club in Sentosa for a pirates or princess party. We love the foam pool!
Where:Port of Lost Wonder, 54 Palawan Beach Walk, Sentosa, p. 9736 8672

Horsing Around
Organise a pony party at Bukit Timah Saddle Club, complete with pony rides. Oh to be a child again! Definitely one of our top picks.
Where: Bukit Timah Saddle Club,
51 Fairways Drive, Singapore 286965, p. 6466 2264

Feather Fun
How about a party amongst feathered friends at Jurong Bird Park with games galore, a show and their very own birthday song from a bird star? Tweet tweet!
Where: Jurong Bird Park, 2 Jurong Hill, Singapore 628925, p. 6265 0022

Call of the Wild
Pick a party at Forest Adventure in Bedok and let the kids go bananas (and let off some steam) as they swing through the trees. One for the older kids.
Where: Forest Adventure, 825 Bedok Reservoir Road, Singapore 479244, p. 8100 7420

Bowl Them Over
For a touch of the wow factor, WOW experiences will throw an unforgettable party with laser tag or zorbing. Another one the older ones will love.
Where: WOW Experience, 164 West Coast Way, Hong Leong Shopping Centre, Singapore 127079, p. 6779 1031

King of the Jungle
Kids can monkey around with a party at Singapore Zoo (min 50 guests!). You can book a visit from a python if you dare.
Where: Singapore Zoo, 80 Mandai Lake Road, Singapore 729826, p. 6269 3411

Hey, Sport
For serious fun and a good run around, little ones will love a soccer or tennis party at Shaws Little League over on the East Coast.
Where: Shaws Little League @ The Cage, 38 Jalan Benaan Kapal, Singapore 399635, p. 6440 9545

DIY Diva
Brave enough to organise it yourself? Then book a barbecue pit by the beach at East Coast Park; on the grass at Mount Faber; or have a pool party (with Zovb balls too!).
Zovb Balls, p. 6779 1031

Razzle Dazzle
For entertainment, Mr Dazzle will dazzle kids (and grown ups too) with his magic show, balloon sculpting and star of the show, a real live bunny
Star Dazzle Concepts, p. 9366 7156

Get in Character
Surprise them with their favourite character (we like Rapunzel) and her Giant Bubble Party with the biggest bubbles we have ever seen.
Kids Fantasy Parties, p. 6467 0249

Paint Happy
Keep kids entertained with face painting. Whether you want sparkly butterflies or terrifying tigers, we recommend artiste extraordinaire Hui Ying.
Hui Ying, p. 9851 0623

Next we'll be bringing you the best indoor birthday bashes, don't miss it!

For the most part, there are lots of cafes and restaurants that let you bring your dog, provided you sit outside. But not every café gives our favourite furry friends the VIP treatment. Here are four spots we're really loving:

K9 Kulture
Solely dedicated to dogs, K9 Kulture is a godsend for busy working owners. They provide a doggie daycare service and have outfitted their premises with two swimming pools for the dogs! They also have a K9 Kafé that has great food for both two-legged or four-legged company. We recommend heading down and letting pooch go for a swim in their salt-chlorinated water, then picking up some good chow a la Saturday at the Country Club.

K9 Kulture, 100 Turf Club Road, #01-06, Singapore 287992, p. 6314 9363

Canopy Garden Dining
Green space? Check. Good food? Check. Dog culture? Double check. If you haven't already visited The Canopy (which looks as lush as it sounds) for your Sunday soiree, it's time to make a trip out there. While the café is a pet-friendly café which welcomes pets, it does not have a pet menu... but they're more than happy to give you a bowl of fresh water for pooch.

Canopy Garden Dining, Bishan Park 2, 1382 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, Singapore 569931, p. 6556 1533

Urban Pooch
Urban Pooch might just be the most popular canine café in town. With menus for both owners and pets, the café is a regular hotspot for doggie "barkday" parties and meetups. They also offer dog grooming services, spa treatments, and daycare or overnight services. We definitely recommend the German Shepherd's Pie for the furkids - they gobble it down.

Urban Pooch, 530 Balestier Road, #01-07, Monville Mansion, Singapore 329857, Tue-Sun 10am-10pm, p. 6252 5046

Colbar
Colbar is a lazy café in the heart of the artsy Wessex Estate. It's not officially declared a pet-friendly café, though the grassy lawns and happy pooches might convince you otherwise. While the food for us humans isn't fodder to fawn over, this secluded location makes kicking back with a beer on a Sunday even sweeter. Plus - pooches don't have to be leashed here.

Colbar, 9A Whitchurch Road, Wessex Estate, Singapore 138839, p. 6779 4859

Theysource only renowned international brands, some of cult status. These products are often yet to hit the stores and best of all, they're individually tailored to your beauty profile. For nail junkies, try the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails, which will help to prolong that perfect mani by preventing chipping, splitting and cracking. And we also cannot wait to try Bellabox's latest find, Macadamia Natural Oil, which reportedly gives ultra-smooth, manageable and shiny hair, and even reduces drying time by an amazing 40-50%!

Sometimes the local community calls for help, and this is one of those times...

On Easter Monday, nine-year-old Ali Layard was involved in a serious accident in the UK, in which he suffered severe injuries to his knees and lower legs. After being air-lifted to a nearby specialist hospital he was seen or operated on by no fewer than 17 doctors in the next few hours (on an Easter Monday remember!).

They were able to save his life, and they are now they're trying to save his legs.

Ali, an avid sportsman who recently made the Somerset Junior Cricket Academy, faces multiple operations involving muscle and skin grafts. Whether or not the doctors are forced to amputate his legs, Ali will have to undertake a long recovery and major lifestyle adjustments.
Let's be honest: flea markets and fashion bazaars were not made equally. Ever picked through a really junky one and found, well... absolutely nothing? It happens to the best of us.

Which is why we strive to cut out the wannabes and bring you the diva of the flea markets (think Robe Raiders). And now we've unearthed another gem for you:

Le Flea Boutique.

With pre-loved vintage and designer labels, high street picks, and some brand new stock from super hot local boutiques like our beloved nana & bird, there's bound to be something for everyone.

We also love that 100% of the proceeds go towards Action for AIDS Singapore, who not only provide anonymous HIV testing, but also provide medication assistance to patients and pregnant mothers who cannot afford the high costs of ARV treatments, among conducting public outreach programs.

Shopping for a good cause? Pen that in right now!

The event is happening Sun 10 June 2012 from 11am-3pm, but they're accepting donations right now. Simply pop by Talent Café Wed 9 May or Wed 23 May 2012 from 5-8pm, or Sat 2 Jun 2012 4-8pm, to drop off your spring cleaning cast-offs (in clean and re-sellable condition). As a sweet thank-you, you get 10% off the menu and a never-ending happy hour!

Alternatively, drop your bags off at Le Flea Boutique's donation bins located at Swirls Bake Shop along Robertson Quay. Pick up some of their gorgeous cupcakes while you're there (you might just have to once you see how pretty they look).

Le Flea Boutique is happening Sun 10 Jun 2012, 11am-3pm at Talent Café, 34/36 Tras Street, Singapore 079026.

Parents, mark your calendars.

The Stamford American International School will open their doors for an Open House on Friday, 11 May at 9am, and we think you need to check out this top-quality learning environment.

Not only will you get to see ongoing classroom activities and learn more about Stamford, you'll also have the chance to speak to Superintendent Malcom Kay - a testament to their welcoming community.

And like any excellent institution, Stamford American International School has achieved many firsts in Singapore's educational field.

Not only are they the first school in Singapore to offer both the International Baccalaureate* (IB) framework as well as American academic standards, the broad-based but academically rigorous curriculum also incorporates individualized study. Stamford is actually the only school in school in Singapore to use the NWEA Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) testing under the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standards to guide the creation of individualized learning plans and enhance the differentiation of instruction.

Their new campus, centrally located at 279 Upper Serangoon Road, will also be the first in Singapore to employ the iLEarn interactive learning environment. The school will be making the move in August this year.

In addition to offering daily Mandarin and Spanish classes (another first in Singapore), Stamford is also the only school here that uses the award-winning Second Step Social Program to support the social and emotional development of children. Weekly lessons include promoting practical skills for learning, empathy, emotion management, and problem solving.

And to top it all off, technology is fully integrated through classroom activities starting from Elementary School. From August this year, Stamford will offer a 1-to-1 Elementary iPad Program and 1-to-1 Middle School and High School MacBook Programs.

Stamford American International School, 11 Lorong Chuan, Singapore 556821, p. 6602 7247. To attend the Open House on Fri, 11 May 2012, RSVP here.

Somedays we throw open our closets wishing we had a personal stylist hiding inside. Somedays we log on the net and find a style coach... for free.

Featured on ST's Urban, Lace and Buttons is a unique online women's fashion store that categorizes its apparel to what's best for your body type. In fact, it's the only online store that uses body shape and style personality tests based on Style Coaching™ principles for women to better understand what looks good on them.

All you have to do is to key in some numbers (shoulder width, waist, and hip measurements) into the system to find out your body shape, then take a style personality test to find out what best describes your style. Dead simple!

The system makes its recommendations based on your body shape (now you'll know what dresses best flatter you) and your personal style... use the practical advice to shop the options available on the site. Online shopping has never been this convenient.

Founded by Prudence Yeo, a certified Style Coach, Lace and Buttons aspires to introduce quality and well-designed apparel, including some local designers.
The online store has also just launched their Spring collection and is currently having a giveaway on facebook! Anyone up for shopping vouchers or a Christian Dior beauty set?

Just "like" their facebook page and share the promotion on your wall to win. Three lucky winners will be picked and results will be announced in May.

Shop Lace and Buttons online.
Lace And Buttons' apparel will be on sale at The Blueprint Emporium on 19 - 20 May on the second floor of Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Pibos Garden Preschool
The teachers are caring, learning is fun, and there's plenty of outdoor space at both centres in Bukit Timah. The curriculum includes art, music awareness, reading and writing skills, as well as the fun stuff like water and sand play, field trips out and story time.
We love: Parents always feel welcome at the school
A friendly little school with a great outdoor play area filled with bikes, trucks, cars, scooters, all under sun-cover. Perfect for active kids, the playground even includes their very own tree house!
From now till 31 May, this pizza place is offering 1-for-1 pizza delivery specials - order a pizza and get one totally on the house!

We adore their Mushroom Bianco (béchamel, mozzarella, fontina, rosemary, roasted mushrooms, and onions) and their very unique Pistachio (pistachio pesto, mozzarella, baby arugula, lemon vinaigrette, parmigiano reggiano).

Extra Virgin only delivers to the CBD, which means we won't be getting in on the action, but if we could, we'd be throwing regular pizza office parties throughout the month of May.

This delivery special is available from 230-530pm on Mon-Sat. Perfect for some much-needed mid-work cheer!

Extra Virgin Pizza also offers a bevy of great starters - if you haven't already tried their veal and ricotta meatballs, you're definitely missing out.

Delivery hours also go till surprisingly late (11am-9pm) so if you're in the office rushing to meet a deadline, it's time to keep this hotline on your speed-dial.

Marks & Spencer - fab food, though not exactly fashion forward on our radar. But after seeing its newly revamped flagship store at Wheelock Place this week, we were sold.

If you haven't visited yet, the store boasts a total shopping experience with its most extensive range to date - find fashion, lingerie, beauty products, kids clothes, fine wines, and its usual top-notch nosh all in the same store.

Ok, let's be real. Marks & Spencer has great food, but their clothing tends to err on the.... frumpy side. With their latest Spring/Summer collection though, M&S have upped their game with this season's hottest prints and colours.

For us ladies, there's a touch of nostalgia with their sixties silhouettes, luxe silks with a sporty twist (very on-trend), flashy fluoros and easy Park Avenue inspired pieces. We also love the classic Brit style of menswear that the store carries - bound to get any guy looking sharp!

We also love that the store's furnishings highlight the distinct identities of each fashion line - look out for touches like an Italian scooter, an illuminated plinth, and even a lingerie chaise. Very classy, guys.

But we're most excited about - drumroll please - Marks & Spencer's very first bakery in Singapore, which offers freshly baked breads and pastries, including French petit pains, bagels, cheese topped pretzels, muffins with lemon, chocolate or blueberry filling, pecan and maple danishes, and a variety of tarts.

Shopping and food? You bet we're on it.

If you haven't been to Vivo recently, you might be surprised by a little orange pop-up by popular Japanese lifestyle store Francfranc THE POST.

THE POST will carry a variety of items ranging from stationery to bath accessories and give us a sneak peek into Francfranc's home, lifestyle and furnishing products from their Spring/ Summer 2012 Collection.

Shaped like a post-box in signature red, the pop-up store is meant to give you the same joy of receiving a parcel from the post office (oh yes, we know the feeling)... by harbouring nifty gifts in its interior.

The pop-up will only be at Vivo till Tue 24 Apr, but if you decide you love the brand so much you can't live without it, you're in luck.

Francfranc will open two stores here this year - its JCUBE outlet is set to open in May 2012, while its largest flagship store will open at Vivo from June 2012.

This is the Japanese brand's first foray here and we can't wait to get our hands on its affordable, casually stylish, and quality furniture and sundries.

Francfranc THE POST will be at Vivocity's main atrium at the North Court (close to the Telok Blangah entrance) till Tue 24 Apr 2012.

Be warned that the service will take longer than your regular mani treatment - the beauticians here will pamper you with with Swiss Mavala beuty products as they scrub and massage your weary hands and feet. A classic mani takes an hour; a classic pedi take 90 minutes, but ladies - it's well-worth your time.

And if you opt for the Platinum spa service (which uses only organic or botanical products), be prepared to up the notch by adding either a mask or paraffin treatment to your pre-polish routine.

For polishes, choose from cult favourites like Scotch Naturals and our personal favourite - Priti NYC, which is completely non-toxic and made without toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DHB) and formaldehyde - all known carcinogenic ingredients.

The spa also offers a full facial treatment menu at affordable prices ($88-$288) - choose from 11 different types of treatments that use established brands like Maria Galland, Dr Murad, and Suki.

Make sure you make an appointment in advance, and set aside a good chunk of your afternoon for some well-deserved pampering.

Sentosa - partyland for beach babes (Tanjong Beach Club, anyone?), and now fantasy island for the kiddies.

That's right, Port of Lost Wonder, Singapore's first kids' club by the beach, just opened at Palawan Beach over the weekend and we're all packed to check this place out.

Some highlights include the Pirate Ship (water play area); the Hatch Patch for tiny tots to potter around with toys; Curiosity Island for kids to learn about animals, pick up gardening skills, and make friends, and the Deck, which is perfect for us adults to picnic in the sun. Swing by Port Belly to re-fuel at lunch, or even host the next big birthday party at Celebration Island.

The port is geared towards kids aged 3-10 years. All children must pay an admission fee of $8 on weekdays and $15 on weekends and public holidays, although accompanying adults enter for free.

For its opening promotional offer, Port of Lost Wonder is offering a 15% discount - that's just $6.60 and $12.75! You can even purchase a membership priced at $90/annum for only $72/annum.

For each ticket, kids are given curio coins that they can use around the port - they use these coins to "pay" for activities and purchase snacks. If they run out of curio coins, simply purchase more at the retail store.

Kids are also given Port Passes that they bring around the port - stamps are given when they complete an activity. Once the Port Pass is completed, they even get to redeem a special prize...

We're loving the idea. Slap on that sunblock and make a day at the beach, stat!

So you are always looking for an excuse to try an award-winning spa, especially one positioned in a high-end hotel... we know the feeling well. The good news - we have the perfect excuse for your ticket on highway Pamper Me Please.

Here it is: The Afternoon Spa Retreat at St. Gregory.

Let us explain.

You book in for your choice of a facial (choose from St. Gregory Soothing Facial or St. Gregory Purifying Facial - both 75 mins) or the Aromatic Body Bliss Massage (50 mins) or both - more on that later. And after you are pampered, plumed and preened, you float your way over to the hotel café for a five-star worthy afternoon tea of canapés, scones and desserts accompanied by tea, of course.

And it's ah-mazing value.

The Afternoon Spa Retreat promotion starts this week - its just $242 per couple, all in (aka nett, no plus plus)! Oh we like!

Of course, being responsible journalists we just had to try it, and from the moment our therapist May Qu said to us "slowly, slowly," as she guided us through the tranquil spa, we were already in absolute heaven.

We tried the St. Gregory Soothing Facial, which is a real S.O.S. treatment for sensitive and reaction-prone skin, rapidly bringing comfort, softness and calm using products from Thal'ion, a marine-based product line.

Our facial started with a ritual of various movements including the fanning and rocking of our bodies, rustling of the towel beside our ears, and spraying of the marine mist on our feet. In line with the marine origins of Thal'ion, these movements are meant to simulate the sights and sounds you may feel or see at the beach e.g. the ocean breeze, sound of the sand rustling beneath your feet, raindrops and so on. Whatever they were meant to do - it seriously deepens the tranquillity before the treatment commences.

Another sure way to make a blissful afternoon just that wee bit more blissful, is to start your facial after a massage, combining the two treatments ... when the additional treatment is just $98 it is silly not to!

So book in now, with your girlfriend, guy friend, hubby or stranger, cause this promotion ain't going to last - and it really is the perfect excuse... because we are sure you will be walking away as we did saying to ourselves, "Ah, it's just the most perfect afternoon.... ever".

The Afternoon Spa Retreat at St. Gregory is available from 15 April to 15 June 2012 at Marina Mandarin Singapore and Pan Pacific Singapore.
We love a good blast from the past, but buying vintage always seems so tricky. The sizes are different, the jewellery extremely delicate, and we once ripped an entire sleeve off a dress in our excitement (true story).

Which is why we decided to get it straight once and for all. If you've always wanted to buy vintage but have been stumped on how to get started, read on for top tips by vintage shop owner, Hsiao Ying, of Granny's Day Out.

Ace Ventura
Whether it's your first-time vintage hunting or not, remember to be adventurous. The fun thing about vintage is that you have decades of clothing to choose from, so try something totally new! Pick out prints you would ordinarily shy away from, try a new length, or even a new neckline.

Try, Try, Try
OK, that dress might look a little frumpy hanging on the rack, but take it to the fitting room and try in on. You'd be amazed at how differently clothes hang on a real person - we definitely were!

Ban the Brandwhore
Rookie mistake: being blinded by brands. Unless you're a collector making an investment, there's really no need to be snooty about labels. Look instead for an item that really speaks to you - that's a smarter investment.

Make Your Tailor Your New BFF
Wanna be the girl who looks like that dress was just MADE for her? Enlist the help of a talented tailor. Take in the bust, nip in the waist, or even take up the hemline to update the look. Just remember the golden rule: never let the outfit lose its shape. Girl, if it's an A-line skirt, don't mess with it.

Maintenance Magic
We've got fab vintage clothes and accessories today because they've been well-cared for over many years, so love them well! Store vintage jewellery in velvet packages and don't stack pieces on top of one another. Maintain leather bags by cleaning them regularly with a leather moisturizer.

And don't skimp on the dry cleaning - it preserves the quality and colour of vintage apparel. Easy pieces made of cotton and polyester, however, can be encased in a laundry net and delicately washed in the washer.

Stay Modern
Unless you're heading to a costume party, top-to-toe vintage is a definite no-no. Hsiao Ying recommends pairing a vintage top with jeans, a vintage dress with a pair of modern shoes, or even jazzing up a basic outfit with some dramatic vintage bling.

Way too easy to turn heads with this cheat sheet!

Imagine burning 750 calories in just 90 minutes. No, you won't be running 10km in the brutal Singapore heat, you'll just be stretching it out, yogic-style, in a 40 degrees celcius room.

Sounds easy? Bikram Yoga Harbourfront offers 90 minutes classes consisting of 26 postures and two breathing exercises. And yes you will lose those calories - time to get moving!

We know - exercising in a heated room isn't all too attractive, but this heat not only protects your muscles by allowing for a deeper stretch, it also detoxifies the body by allowing you to sweat out toxins.

And for those who don't believe yoga can provide a complete cardiovascular workout - prepare to eat your words. The heat helps to increase your heart rate for a better cardio workout, while the second half of class helps you to shed fat - it's like interval training at the gym... but fun!

New to Bikram yoga? We're about to wow you. The sequence of 26 postures is scientifically designed to work every muscle, ligament, tendon, and joint in your body. It then restores your system by pumping oxygenated blood all around your body into every organ and fibre.

The incredible results include improved posture (listen up, slouchers!), muscle and joint flexibility, increased concentration and energy level, and overall rejuvenation. If you're nodding off in the office right now, this could well be your salvation.

Ok, so you're interested, but you're afraid of looking ridiculous trying to hold your pose. We totally get first-time jitters, so relax! Everyone else will be too busy sweating it out to even notice you struggling to keep your balance. Bikram is also designed for designers - have a sports injury? Think you're too old? No such thing!

To make things even more enticing, Bikram Yoga Harbourfront is offering a 10 day trial for just $50 to new members. No advanced booking needed, but it's recommended you turn up 30 minutes before a session for first-time registration.

Seymour (of Hunters and Collectors) and Reyne (of the iconic Australian Crawl) will be giving an unforgettable one-night only performance at the Marina Bay Sands Grand Theater.

Popeye used spinach to recharge his superhuman strength but there's only so much spinach a person can eat!! Recent research in Australia revealed there are many Asian greens that contain similar or higher folate levels to spinach.

Vanessa McNamara, The Travelling Dietitian, offers her top 5 Asian greens for your health. Not only do they contain more folate than spinach, they are also valuable sources of vitamins A and C, fibre and potassium.

So visit your nearest wet market pronto!

Mizuna
A leafy Japanese green, similar to rocket, but less peppery in flavour. It can be used in salads, added to stir-fries or used as a substitute for kale. Impress your guests with this delicious recipe for Soba Noodle Salad with Mizuna.

Tatsoi
Also called Spinach Mustard, Tatsoi is similar to bok choy but a little more delicate and with smaller leaves. Tastes great sautéed in oil with garlic or wilted using hot rice vinegar, soy sauce and sesame oil.

Choy Sum
Choy sum is also very similar to bok choy but with white stems and dark green leaves. Make like a pro and blanch it until just cooked, then drizzle with oyster sauce and sesame oil a la Kylie Kwong!

Kangkong
Found throughout the tropics, kangkong is a type of water spinach with long green stems. Cook it Singapore-style as Sambal Kangkong with dried shrimps and a chilli paste.

Snake beans
These are a much longer version of the common bean with a slightly sweet flavour and crunchy texture. They're absolutely delish in stir-fries and curries and great in this Spicy Dry-fried Snake Beans and Pork recipe.

These healthy tips were brought to you by The Travelling Dietitian, e: vanessa@thetravellingdietitian.com or p. 9295 0658, a Singapore-based dietitian, offering in-home or in-office consultations and programs to ensure you & your family are eating right.

You want: To unleash your inner goddess.

You do not want: A standard gym pumped full of testosterone (and egos to match), or unglamorously sweating up a storm in the outdoor heat.

You need: Body Temple's women-only wellness centres. Karine and her team of super fun and fit personal trainers will provide you with a fitness & wellness plan perfectly tailored to lure that goddess out of you.

We tried Body Temple's customized 10 x 1 hour sessions with the lovely long-legged Lauren, and lost 4kgs, 21cms (including 9cm from the waist!) and we also wiped 6 years off our metabolic age (yes they have these fancy scales which can tell you these things).

The workouts, which take place in the air-conditioned comfort at Loewen Gardens, begin with some rolling time on the fitbar to release trigger points (tightness in the muscles), followed by stretching and activation of the muscles.

Core and strength exercises are next, which help to get your heart rate up. The last (and we think hardest) part of the routine involves "finishers" - but they up your metabolic rate, release endorphins, and burn fat - so bring it!

After all that hard work, you're treated to a lovely neck & shoulder massage during the cool down - yes, bliss.

Your trainer gives you all the support and tools you need to meet your health and fitness goals. Need motivation to stay away from cake? Whip out your food diary - writing that down will make you think twice about what you're munching on.

Body Temple also offers pilates, a running club plus nutrition, shopping and Hawker food educations programs. Just about something for every woman we think!

All right happy bunnies - the long weekend is finally coming up and we're out to party in style! We've rounded up some great ways to mark Easter, kids in tow or not.

Let's Talk Chocolate
Who doesn't love chocolate eggs? Jones the Grocer stocks these goodies made with Valhrona choclate in four flavours: dark milk chocolate; dark chocolate cocoa and coffee Arabica; milk chocolate cocoa, and milk chocolate cocoa with caramelised ginger and lemon. Yum! We also like Hediard's wild chocolate surprise egg: it's decorated with zebra stripes on the outside and hides a fully edible interior of chocolate jungle animals!

Eggshell Planters
Throwing an Easter party? These eco-friendly centerpieces are easy to make (literally, it takes ten minutes!) and a total conversation starter. It's also a different Easter activity for the kids... one not involving a sugar rush or glitter down their clothes.
Materials needed: eggshells, egg carton, potting dirt, succulent sprigs (easily replaceable with other plants), moss
Difficulty level: We non-green thumbers could pull this off without a hitch.

Brunch Eggs-travaganza
Long weekends were made to unwind? We know it. Relax with a good bubbly and brunch, and even find someone else to babysit the kids... all for the price of one! Find our top Easter brunch picks here.
Difficulty level: Virtually zero, though tearing yourself away from free-flow booze may prove difficult.

Get Social
Sometimes it's easier to leave it to the experts. The sweet peeps over at The Little Bookshop are holding an egg-decorating workshop for the kids at only $15 a pop, inclusive of material! Stick around after and explore the good reads this boutique bookstore has to offer.
The Little Bookshop, 687a East Coast Road, Level 2, Singapore 459055, p. 6677 3083. Easter Workshop is from Fri 6 to Sun 8 Apr 2012, 230 & 430pm, $15.

Dye Naturally
We love the colourful eggs of Easter, but we can definitely do without the toxins from all that paint and artificial food colouring. For a kid-safe alternative, try colouring your eggs with natural dyes made with tumeric, onion peel, beets, and chilli powder.
Difficulty level: time-consuming, but easy. Natural dyes take longer to absorb, so get started on those eggs now!

Hot Cross Buns
These seasonal treats only come around once a year, so grab 'em while they're hot! Find hot cross buns at Simply Bread, Baker & Cook, and Milkbar. Ambitious? Try baking a batch using either chocolate or fruit & spice mixes from Jones the Grocer. Even more ambitious? Start from scratch.

Pastel Party
Nothing screams celebration more than cupcakes, and All Good Things does mini cupcakes in the most delicious colours ever. We hear they're a hit with the kids, but we want in on the action too!

Paper Carrots
What do all Easter bunnies need? Carrots, of course! These handmade paper carrots double up as great doorgifts for guests and are easy enough for even the littlies to try.
Materials needed: orange paper, green paper, scissors, tape, sweet treats
Difficulty level: It's folding and taping paper - easy as pie!

More inspiration?
O wondrous worldwide web! Need some Easter cheer in a jiffy? Get clicky with some free downloadables by blogger Amy Moss! Need some crafty ideas, like these adorable bunny and chicken cups (see image)? Head over to the sweet blog.hellolittleone.com before you get the draft box out. We also love these gift tags - they're particularly great for Easter, but we think they work well for bunny lovers any time of the year.
