Its all about steak, sauce and frites... let us explain...

This is the classic steak and frites served with a secret butter-sauce recipe. The frites are crispy and golden French Fries - which seemed to come at an endless supply and the steak was big enough that they suggest you take it in two servings - so the later half does not get cold. All this for $29 is pretty good in our book.

The menu includes a swathe of traditional French starters like rillettes, escargots, foie gras and beef bone marrow. And dessert includes lemon tart, Real Profiteroles and crispy waffle with salted butter caramel sauce

The ambience is cosy (don't attempt private conversations) with a simple and rustic 1900s French bistro feel.
Overall - we think this one is an absolute winner if you are a steak and frites kinda kid.

Its all about steak, sauce and frites... let us explain...

In the 1930s in Paris, Monsieur Boubier created culinary history when he invented the first original butter-based sauce served over entrecote steak. When Boubier gave his daughter's hand in marriage to the owner of Café de Paris, he also gave away the closely guarded recipe. With the secret sauce she introduced a groundbreaking idea and transformed the fortunes of the café: serve just one dish, yet make it so scrumptious and satisfying that nothing else would come close.

Eighty years later, two Parisian restaurateurs are bringing the authentic French Bistro halfway around the world. Olivier Bendel and Loic Martenot have meticulously recreated this celebrated recipe in its authentic form at L'Entrecôte - The Steak & Fries Bistro on Singapore's Duxton Hill.

This is the classic steak and frites served with a secret butter-sauce recipe. The frites are crispy and golden French Fries - which seemed to come at an endless supply and the steak was big enough that they suggest you take it in two servings - so the later half does not get cold.
We have just heard reports that a terribly frightening creature is coming to terrorise Singapore in February 2011....and we are oh so excited about it!

International Rave Reviews
Fresh from rave reviews in New York, London's West End and Hong Kong, The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child childrens' books have been brought to life and stage so your little ones can get amongst the action. Yep - that's two shows...and twice the Gruffalo action! And you get a 15% discount if you get tickets to both!

The Original
For those who haven't read the Gruffalo, the beautifully simple story about courage and imagination story follows Mouse, who can scare hungry animals away with tall stories of the terrifying Gruffalo. But what happens when he comes face to face with the very creature he imagines?

And As A Bonus...
And then there's The Gruffalo's Child - with attitude! But just how brave is she? No Gruffalo should ever set foot in the deep dark wood... One wild and windy night the Gruffalo's child ignores her father's warning and tiptoes out into the snow. After all, the Big Bad Mouse doesn't really exist... does he?

We are on the edge of out seats - and not because the Gruffalo is the the scariest creature ever to have been imagined (because he most certainly is not!), but because we can't wait to see these delightful and delicious stories on the big stage.

Perfect For Chinese New Year
It starts February 3 until February 12 - which means that if you're planning a relaxing Chinese New Year in Singapore, you can take the family along to the Gruffalo. Get details of the shows here.

Alert: 12 free tickets to giveaway
We have the first tickets in Singapore to give away - that means 3 lucky families will win 4 tickets each to see a show. Enter here to win.

TIckets available from SISTIC - we've got ours, see you there!

Everyone knows how good honey is...Natural remedies using honey have been handed down generation after generation.

It is a natural anti oxidant, a natural energy and immune system booster. Its antibacterial and antiseptic properties prevent infection and functions as an anti- inflammatory agent, reducing both swelling and pain, and even scarring hence ideal for treating wounds, burns and cuts.

It is used to treat sore throats thanks to its anti microbial properties that not only soothe but
can also kill certain bacteria that causes the infection.

AND Honey is a great natural anti aging skin care product. Throughout the centuries, legendary beauties like Cleopatra have used raw honey as part of their skin and hair care treatments to keep them looking youthful.

Anyway.... enough of that.... now what we have been meaning to tell you is about Komachi's new Honey Treatment.

This Japanese hair salon in Liang Court is an unlikely place to find - but they offered us a free hair treatment, and well we all can use one of those.

What was a thoroughly relaxing afternoon also resulted in amazingly shiny healthy hair - and after the damaging hair treatments our poor peanut has endured - that is saying something.

So if your hair needs a little TLC with an all-natural ingredient, we totally recommend the Honey Treatment at Komachi.

Swoon Around in Sri Lanka
Stressed-out city couples will love this: an authentic cultural break without any sacrificial offering to the Style Gods. Freshly renovated in 2010 under the hands of design guru Shanth Fernanda of Paradise Road fame, Villa Bentota is the chicest private beach hotel on Sri Lanka's west coast, conveniently located just 1.5 hours drive from Colombo. Get hot and heavy on the beach, cool down in one of two swimming pools, cuddle up in the sea-view ambalama, or swoon around the tropical gardens surrounding this luxurious lair. This ancestral house is an art piece in its own right, with 15 airy rooms whispering with colonial history, all spruced up with elegant greys, chic cane furniture and sumptuous linens. In summary: a thoroughly chic boutique bolthole with a good dose of old-school romance.

Pucker Up In Paradise
Situated on Phuket's 'Millionaires' Mile', Paresa Resort is a sleek and sexy new opening, clinging seductively to the cliffs of Kamala. But with such stiff competition, why opt for the new kid on the block? We can't quite put our finger on it, but the vibe here feels exciting and "current", with crisp, Zen interiors spotlighting the gorgeous natural surroundings. Or perhaps it's the food, with its swish clifftop Italian eatery and tongue-tingling Thai alternative. For the ultimate in romantic dining, go for the 'Infinity Experience' and eat dinner under the stars on a little "island" marooned in the hotel's infinity pool. Really, though, a dirty weekend comes down to the rooms: they're huge. Most come with private infinity pools and steam rooms, and eye-watering 270° Andaman Sea views.

All the Raj...
Amid the colourful old quarter of Jodphur, or the 'Blue City' as she's known, your customised blue tuk tuk awaits you. Hop in to be transported to your destination via a cobweb of tiny lanes, throbbing with jewellery, silk and spice bazaars. As a perfect, blissful contrast, you will soon arrive at India's hippest new boutique hotel, Raas - a soothing 31-room sanctuary built around an immaculately restored haveli. Decked in rose sandstone (dappled with soft rays by day, dancing in candlelight by night), the hotel contains an infinity pool, two restaurants and a spa. Shiny black terrazzo floors, custom-made rosewood furniture and creamy-white walls make for gorgeously sleek bedrooms, but the magic really happens when you slide open the floor-to-ceiling windows: enchantingly located at the foot of the Mehrangarh Fort, your private veranda provides the most incredible views from any hotel in India - if not the world.

These escapes were brought to you by Lightfoot Travel p. 6438 4091, e. info@lightfoottravel.com, a Singapore-based luxury tour operator offering expert travel advice & inspiration, tailor-made itineraries & full booking services.

'My Silver Balloon' Personalised Children's CDs are now available to buy in Singapore. Created by a husband and wife team after they had a baby and were frustrated with listening to endless nursery rhymes, The Silver Balloon songs are completely original and have been designed to include your child's name throughout the lyrics. Conceived to be both educational and fun, the CDs are also highly interactive and encourage your child to explore different sounds and objects, for example 'Doogie the Barndancing Dog' encourages children to copy the actions and identify parts of their body.

Originating from the UK, these CDs are highly sought after and customers range from British Royalty to David Beckham and Tony and Cherie Blair. They are also outselling the Wiggles in the UK!

Silver Balloon CDs make fantastic gifts for kids of almost any age. Experts say that children can recognise their own name from as early as 4 months, whilst toddlers can understand lyrics and schoolchildren can singalong.

We know, we know...sometimes you feel like if the wheels on the bus go round and round one more time, the speakers might just get thrown out the window. Kids' music is great, but not at the expense of your sanity. Here's our definitive list of albums your kids will love, and it might just stop you having a Wiggles CD bonfire.

Keep it cool
Family Time by Ziggy Marley is a regge-cool album features some of Bob Marley's family and Jack Johnson (in Cry, Cry, Cry). Winning a Grammy for "Best Musical Album for Children", Family Time will take you and the kids straight to Jaa-maka-man.

Barenaked Ladies
That's not PG! But the Canadian alternative rock band, BNL, famous for their hit One Week, has a fun kids album called Snack Time, which starts with 'Why 7,8,9 no-body knows!' Whether they're singing about ninjas, allergies or the alphabet, BNL's clever lyrics and catchy tunes will bring a smile to your face.

Soft rock ballads
Gustafer Yellowgold's Mellow Fever combines simple visuals with original alt/soft-rock style music that will entertain and enchant children ages 3 and up.

"Mary Had a Little Amp" - despite the name, have no fear, only super soft ballads here. R.E.M. tones it down with the playful, hyper-rhythmic "We Walk", the Dixie Chicks do "Rainbow Connection" and Maroon 5 even step in.

The Man in Black
As The Johnny Cash Children's Album proves - yes the Man does have a playful side. "Ah Bos Cee Dah" is nonsensical noodling with the language at its most brilliant.

They Might Be Giants
Once again, a band who can play grown-up music has nailed it for the kids. They Might Be Giants' album Here Come the 123s includes "High Five," a flippy, freewheeling dab of disco, and "One Everything," a juiced-up, jangly rocker with a message for listeners ages 3 to 93: an untidy room actually is an insult to the omniverse.

Sing, Clap, Wiggle & Shake
And finally - one for the Jazz lovers. Jazz For Kids features childhood favorites such as "Old McDonald" and "The Muffin Man," both sung by Ella Fitzgerald, and is a great way to teach youngsters about jazz and swing music as well as some of its most legendary performers.

Win A Free CD In Time For Xmas
With My Silver Balloon, they'll think they're the star! Well, aren't they? My Silver Balloon is your own kid's personalised CD! That's right - original kids music, with your chid's name in the lyrics 35 times.

And here's the best bit - because we love music and we love making you happy, we have 5 My Silver Balloon CDs to give away. All you need to do is befriend us on Facebook and tell us what your kids' favourite song are. Perfect for Christmas!

'Was that an earthquake or did you just rock my world?'

'I wish you were DSL so I could get high-speed access...'

Ok, ok we will stop.
Dating can be painful. Oh, so painful.

Thats why founder of One Lucky Duck is not creating a dating service. Nope. Nor is it a profiling service. No sir. And there is no match-making. Thank you Lord.

One Lucky Duck is simply all about fun nights, in a funky location with a like-minded crowd.

Danish founder Sandie Keng has drawn on the international trend for natural and relaxed singles events, with no upfront expectations or commitments. Creating singles events where like-minded people can meet, without the formal dating scene, One Lucky Duck brings this new style of singles service to our shores.

This is networking with a twist. You can expect dinner clubs, shared tables, and even cooking with strangers. Perfect for single professionals from all cultures who are tired of the usual 'dinner with friends', One Lucky Duck is for people with an open mind, who want to have fun, enjoy good food and good company.

Each event has a theme like cooking lessons, themed dinners and art events. The venues are carefully selected restaurants, bars, and even in attendees own homes for some special dinner party events.

This approach takes the pressure off meeting 'the one' (*phew*) and instead focuses on helping people expand and create great new social networks.

Some events will even be open to non-singles if they bring a single friend. And, of course, a relaxed environment can often be the best environment to find a special someone you do want to get to know a little bit more.

So, want to be One Lucky Duck?

Book a ticket to one of their upcoming events. You can chose from Dinner Out, Arty Party, Quiz & Pizza, Movie Night or their Dinner In. Events start from Friday 19 November, so click away!

Yes, you heard right. Scanlan & Theodore is opening for a limited time on the shores of Singapore.

For 23 years Scanlan & Theodore has become an intimate discovery for those seeking fashion designed with intelligent creative and modern elegance.

Each season brings a fresh interpretation of essential, but never predictable pieces that celebrate fashion without compromising individualistic expression.
With an instinctive appreciation of artistic technique Scanlan & Theodore has generated unique collaborations with iconic fine arts photographers Bill Henson, David Armstrong and most recently Nan Goldin.

Therefore, it is not surprising that this unique one off event will be held at none other than Old School, the arts precinct atop Mt Sophia.

When: 17th Nov - 10th Dec 2010, Mon-Sat 10am-7pm Sun 12pm-5pm

Credit Card/Cash accepted. No Nets.
