When your BFF reaches a girth of a metre, it's time to get a-showering.

Plan
Baby showers need a simple smilebox invitation, and a venue. Afternoon teas are fun, but for something different head to a salon. Celicia's, Juup Nails or Porcelain Face Spa can cater for an intimate mani-pedi session for 10 or so.

Shop
Resist the urgent to buy a stuffed toy. Instead, go for a survival kit of Woodward's Gripe Water, THE baby manual - Baby Love, ear plugs and a voucher for a mani/pedi from your favourite spa. Or, if you feel you should buy something for the little dear, maybe the all natural, French and celebrity-loved Sophie the Giraffe, (loved by Nicole Richie and Isla Fisher). If you must buy something practical, head to Mothers Works - a Grobag, Konfidence swim nappy or Dwell Studio baby towel are always needed. If your mummy-to-be loves her organics, a set of organic baby products from Lemongrass House will be well received.

If the impending mum is a clean freak, wish her luck and supply some large Cotton on Kids bibs, she'll need both... If she is the studious type, we recommend the amazing Dunstan Baby Language DVD. Still stuck for ideas? Go for a sweet romper from Chateau de Sable (white please!). Looking for a group present? Bag a baby bag, like the lovely Big Mumma bag by Bahru or a Kate Spade baby bag.

Eat
Well, there ain't no tea without the cake. And there ain't nothing cuter than those mini booties on those wee little cupcakes. See My Fat Lady, Onicakes or Half Baked Ideas for your cutie cupcake fix.

Play
Of course you need not guess the weight of the mum-to-be, that could be, well, rather rude. Instead feel free to play pin the sperm on the egg, birth-celebrity head (using weird and wonderful birthing terms) and guess mum's tummy size - hint go for 1m+!

If hair products worked as promised, we would all be skipping around town with glossy manes, waving our hair in the wind, with never a strand out of place.

Instead, we all need to see Louis Loo at Crème The Hair Spa on a regular basis. And once you have tried a treatment at this new hair spa, you will never look back.

This is a dedicated hair spa, where you can expect the total spa experience (right down to the scented candles and crisp honeycomb textured robes) completely focused on achieving a healthy scalp. Expect a one-on-one consultation and scalp analysis followed by two hours of massaging and pampering. But don't worry, your back, neck and hands won't be neglected either. There's nothing quite like a therapist asking you would you like a hand massage while your treatment is in progress... Yes please!

Crème uses in-house blends of essential oils and vitamins, which deliver results. And after some much needed time out relaxing the ambient personal spa suite, you can't help but love your hair.

Special Offer
We loved it so much we begged the guys at Crème to provide us a special offer for our readers.. so we have.a free hair treatment for the first 50 readers upon purchase of a set of shampoo and hair mask - just pop on down and mention Honeycombers of course!

So he popped the big question, and of course you swooned and said 'I do'.

But you didn't realise that this means finding a venue, securing a date, hiring a planner, dealing with the in-laws, slimming down and finding a rock...don't forget to breath.

We have one thing covered for you. Yes the bling.

Some like Tiffanies, and Harry is grand, but when you want something bespoke, one-of-a-kind and truely made for you, you need a private jeweller. Introducing Errai Jewellery.

Errai Jewellery, named after the Errai star system, approximately 45 light years away in the constellation of Cepheus (!), was created by Australian gemologist Milly Rees. Trained at the GIA, and with experience in New York and London, Milly comes to Singapore with not only a great knowledge basis, but fantastic diamond sourcing contacts across the world.

But what we absolutely love about Errai Jewellery is the personal service. Milly takes you (or your man) through an education process on different diamonds and their qualities. She will meet with you and together plan the ultimate ring or pair of wedding bands. As every stone is different and every client is different, Errai promises that no two pieces will ever be the same (unlike the wax mould cuts at large diamond specialists). Errai offers platinum, white gold and gold options. And in terms of the stones, you provide the brief and Milly will personally source the gems from around the world.

And then perhaps you might need some pink sapphire or aqua marine earrings just as a little reward for dealing with the in-laws....

Rock on
First things first, every girl needs a solid rock. We recommend a bespoke diamond, sourced by a private dealer you can trust. Talk with Milly at Errai Jewellery pronto.

The frock
If you are looking to replicate haute couture dresses head to Amanda Lee Weddings. If you are looking for something a little different, see Love, Yu who is a new and upcoming designer in town.

Location, location
Next, let's see, Bali or Singapore. If you're heading off take a look at our Bali Wedding Guide. Here to wed? Then venue is the next trick. Hot right now is Capella with their resort style wedding, The Shangri-La which is the best for big weddings and The White Rabbit, perfect for a smaller crowd at a fun location with a church-like feel. For old world charm The Raffles Hotel and Graze are great options, and for a Zen-like, minimalistic wedding take a peek at a Kha.

Snap happy
You need to capture every moment. If you're on a budget, we hear Martin T.
Flower, power
You need to stop to smell the roses, and here are three tried and tested florists that will do just the trick - Pollen, known for their contemporary and out-of-the-box arrangements, Sing See Soon, and Sir Charles Florist at Raffles and if your are on a budget, check out Petals & Leaves.

Wine Time

So, he popped the question (yay!) and you said yes (phew!). You've chosen Bali as your wedding venue (an excellent choice if we do say so ourselves), and now the real fun begins...

We love Seminyak. Not only because it's a mere 20 minute drive from the airport (a weary traveller plus) but because there's so much there to keep your guests entertained.

Create the aisle
A private villa is always a good option for your wedding and reception. Elite Havens have some great ones on their books. Try Atas Ombak, Semanapura or The Istana. Tirtha in Uluwatu is the area's only dedicated wedding venue with a view to die for.

Calm the nerves
Excited and nervous, the night before the Big Day is the perfect night for a wee pre-wedding drinkie-poo, try Ku De Ta or La Sal. Both these venues can cater for a pre-wedding group.

Girl Friday
Choose a wedding planner who works on a flat fee instead of a percentage of your overall budget (that way they're not incentivised to increase your budget). Libby at Elite Events is one of the best. M&M also offer an excellent wedding planning service.

Beauty sleep
Check out Uma Sapna (our favourite), The Samaya, Bali Sentosa, Desa Seni and Tony's Villa for hotels to suit everyone's budget and taste.

Food, glorious food
Bali Catering and M&M Catering are top of our list for caterers.

Hold steady
Don't be afraid to negotiate with all suppliers. You may be surprised at what you can get if you hold fast.

You have always known oranges are good for you right? But bet you didn't know that vitamin C is also great for your skin?

As your skin gets older (alas unavoidable!), your skin loses its ability to fight against skin problems caused by the harsh environment and the aging process. This is where the oranges come in.

Vitamin C is a great antioxidant for the skin. In particular, it is renowned for its ability to prevent UV damage, the main cause of premature skin aging. Unfortunately rubbing an orange on your skin is not the solution...

Instead try the new Sonic C Infusion Treatment by Bella Skin Care which tackles the problem right into the dermis. This treatment strengthens your skin with an infusion of vitamin C. It improves the natural defences of skin through strengthening the skin elasticity by enhancing collagen synthesis. This disrupts the melanin formation and prevents skin damage caused by free radicals induced by UV radiation. In short, it prevents premature aging of skin.

And lucky for us, Bella Skin Care is offering a first session of this treatment for only $28 just for honeycomber readers. So book your treatment today, and then kick back and relax while your skin takes in all that goodness.

Scrub solution:
A truly thoughtful gift is a customized gift. Create a mask, body scrub, soap or oil with his/her favor flower or ingredient at Lemongrass House.

Sweet solution:
If Valentine's Day is not really your thing, then you could just write a simple love letter, or pick up some love cards at kikki.K. Maybe just a simple breakfast in bed with some Love Eggs will impress their pants off.

Savour solution:
Or for the ultimate valentines, sail into the sunset on a romantic cruise on a luxurious private yacht. Or simple pack a picnic and head to the gardens or the East Coast for a romantic candle lit dinner for two.

Scent solution:
You could organize a delivery of flowers or perhaps organize a month of flowers delivered. Living Colour can deliver flowers sweet for the next month or the next year.

Love Eggs are simply eggs made with love.
For my Mr, love eggs means baked eggs, so here is the recipe...

2-3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 big pinches ground cumin
2 big pinches chili flakes
2 big pinches smoked paprika
2 big pinches fine sea salt
1 cup spring (or regular) onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered
2 pieces of pita bread, cut into quarters
6 large organic eggs
Garnish: finely chopped tomatoes, chili flakes, coriander

Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in the cumin, chili flakes, paprika, salt, onion, and garlic. Cook until onions soften, just a minute or two. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes soften up a bit, another two or three minutes. Set aside.

Take six pieces (quarters) of the pita bread, gently open each of them and tuck them into a muffin tin - every other slot. If the pita splits, no worries, just criss-cross the bread into a nest or tart shell of sorts so there is coverage across the bottom so the egg and filling won't run out.

Spoon a bit of the tomato filling into each pita cup, dividing it amongst the six cups. Now crack a single egg into each pita cup. You don't want the cups to overflow, hold back a bit of the egg white if you need to. Also, you don't want the egg yolk to jet up toward the sky, try to ensure it is level with the whites or the yolks can dry out while baking.

Carefully place in the oven (racks in the centre) and bake for about 15 minutes. Until the whites have set and become opaque. Serve hot garnished with a sprinkling of chopped tomatoes, chili flakes, and coriander. Makes six egg cups.

Finally! Someone has opened a store with vintage and rehabbed furniture here in Singapore. And that would be Like That One by Belle and Cheu.

Although you have to schlep out to god-knows-where to find them, this is worth the effort. These guys bring funky, California-style vintage furnishings together with a sense of place that is distinctively Singapore.

Each piece has been lovingly painted, embellished or crafted by hand. Stalwarts of Singapore '60s style such as cane chairs and bamboo end tables are re-worked into colorful pieces. Staid mirrors and hotel lobby paintings emerge as vibrant, eclectic artwork. Even your auntie's cast-off dishes find new life as quirky, hand-painted tableware.

Each piece is unique with antique or retro elements. You will never see your new alligator-papered chair in the glassy box of a condo show flat!

Need a new year's resolution? Or looking for some way to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate?

Singapore Council of Women's Organisation's Star Shelter program is in need of assistance.

This non-religious organization helps women and their children who are in abusive relationships and at risk situations. The shelter houses them temporarily, offers support, and ways for them to get back on their feet. Often women arrive when they have nowhere to go and usually because they leave their husbands, receive little or no support from their family network, and the shelter is their only refugee.

The shelter location is confidential as most come with a violent past. Some women are foreign, some are Singaporean, most are in dire situations and Star Shelter helps them rebuild their lives through various things, counseling, finding work, housing, and so on. At the moment, they're in urgent need of Nan Nestle baby formula for two infant girls.

So if you would like to donate, please email Azra, the Star Shelter manager at counsel@scwo.org.sg. Image how good you will feel afterwards.

Flowers are sweet, but last a week. We say start with something that we all put to good use. A Gina & Jake snakeskin Travel Wallet, or if your honey has been very good this year, a leather Bahru Luxe Traveller Bag or Gina & Jake Snake Skin Clutch will surely show how much you love them.

Something more sexy? Why not buy her a slinky LILOU or StarBlu Swimsuit.

Something more personal? Every gal loves some new bling, and the Polli Love Garden Earrings will do just the thing.

Or perhaps something for the bedroom? Maybe some Lemongrass & Aubergine Candles perhaps? Or a romantic Nomadebo Tea Setting, perfect for breakfast in bed.

Maybe you want something unique? What about a cheeky Sinkid T-shirt for him, with a little bit of Singlish lah? Can?

Looking for something more refined? How about a Frejadesigns Studio Cashmere Wrap, perfect for those nights at the cinema together.

So you have an iphone, now you need some time savers (and time wasters). Here are the latest and greatest applications for the Lion state.

Quintessentially
This is like a mini luxe guide for all the glam cities around the world. Think Rome, Moscow, New York. With where to stay, eat, shop and party, this is one cool app. We are just waiting for them to add some more cities in SE Asia. Free.

Fairs & Fleas
Nothing like a shopping app. Especially one that focuses on the flea markets and bazaars around Singapore. This one is a great summary of what's on, just a shame it's not updated with the actual dates. You will need to read Honeycombers for that. Free.

Words with Friends
For all those word-smiths out there, engage in crossword combat with your mates with this app. It is the same addicting turn-based gaming style of Chess With Friends translated to crossword gameplay. Free.

FlickTouch Gold
One for the film buffs. Simple and useful, it provides a movie list, with images and a synopsis of all films currently playing in Singapore and the locations and times of the screening. Free.

Karma Art
Need to waste some time and write love letters? Download Karma Art and you can create cute drawings with balloons, birds, flowers etc, cut and paste and then send them to someone you love. Ahh! $ 0.99.

iCash SG
Although the name sounds like this app will dispense cash from the phone, it doesn't. But it does locate all major banks ATMs around the island, so you can easily find one nearby. Handy huh. Free with ads or $1.99 to turn the ads off.

Speedcams Singapore: AlertMe
The name kinda says it all. This app alerts you to fixed speed cameras and red light cameras once you log in your journey and configure what kind of alerts you want. Always nice to be one step ahead of the law. $2.49.

iMerlion
Not enough apps yet? This app, helps you find more apps - designed for our Lion state. The perfect time waster. Free of course.

Got another great app that we need to know about? Please add it here.

Do you have a four-legged friend in your life? Or thinking of adopting one? The only challenge is working out who's going to look after your chum when you want head out of town. We have asked all our fluffy friends and here are the tried and test places for puss or pooch to stay and play.

Cat Woman
The best place for your cat is home sweet home. Organise a cat sitter so your feline buddy is not in a strange environment. We have had excellent reports about Sue Lyn and Rick from Pet Mobile, both update you puss's holiday snaps via sms. Everyone will be purring.

Dog House
Lots of furry friends like the doggie daycare at K9 Kampus. Here they walk and swim your dog and the have a great kennelling system where all the dogs sleep in the same room (great for pack animals like dogs). Handlers also sleep in the room to make sure everyone sleeps soundly. And to make sure you sleep soundly on holidays, you can even watch your dog at play from anywhere in the world through the K9 Kampus Webcam.

Doggie Cafe
Looking for a doggies treat? Head to the US Doggie Barkery where fido can enjoy some freshly baked cheese paws, honey bears or peanut candies, all baked freshly daily. Want to know where to get a latte locally with your furry friends? Check out our Fido-Friendly Cafe Listings.

Pamper the Pooch
Also in the Turf City area Fur'n'Away is a highly recommended groomer and doggie massage place - perfect for doggies that need a little TLC.

Park and Bark
If you are looking for a good off lead dog runs head to Bishan Park 2 or the West Coast Park Dog Run. Both are fenced, so you can rest assured your pal won't end up playing in the traffic or worse in Malaysia. A couple of great on-lead walks include The Botanical Gardens and Bedok Reservoir. It is strictly on-lead and as it is a national park you must scoop your poop.

Swim & Surf
For some swimming action, there is a new swimming pool open for dogs at K9 Kampus (weekends only for non-members). Or head to the beach. Tanjong Beach on Sentosa is a great place for a splish'n splash'n for our four-legged friends.

Pet Safari
Looking for that puppy in the window or some ultimate pet pampering? Head directly to Pet Safari at Vivocity. These guys have thought of everything. There's a grooming centre, a display area where you can purchase pets, a vet clinic and shelf after shelf of food, toys, furniture, shoes, clothes, and even pet strollers!

At last! Some fun, original kids clothes created here in Singapore... All mothers that just can't get enough of something different, browse your mouse over to Project Little. With its tag line Happy clothes to rock your world, we already liked these guys!

The Little label was born out of two mothers' vision of creating orientally-inspired children's clothes with a twist. With their love of kimono-style baby clothes (goodbye to that frustrating manoeuvre of getting a wobbly newborn's head into onesie!); and drawing on their collective backgrounds in design, sales and marketing, the collection began with an idea for just one functional baby wrap top. Now, traditional silhouettes mixed in with a cornucopia of playful patterns, happy hues and candy colours form the essence of their fledgling clothing line.

The first collection Going Mental for Oriental brings to you fun and functional pieces in a juicy array of prints and patterns. Versatile separates (kimono tops and Happy pants) in 100% cotton will weather a tumble in the playground as well as those times when the small one needs to be a little "dressed up". After all, it is just about being happy to be little!

So shop a Little - we will be!

Elena Tonetti has been documenting amazing births for decades and conducting birth workshops designed to return to women the confidence in their ability to birth comfortably and easily. Elena's workshop focuses on limbic imprinting, the primitive part of the brain where the long term memory has stored our own birth experience. During gestation, birth and early childhood, the limbic system registers our feelings, without translating it into the language of cortex, simply because it's not developed yet.
That memory lives in the body throughout the rest of our life whether we know of it or not. Limbic Imprint Re-coding invokes the physical and emotional memory of Bliss...unlocking the mysteries of behaviors, re-aligning emotions and desires with actions.
This experiential workshop is a combination of lecture, specific movement, specific breath work, hands-on exercises, role-playing, sharing in the most amazing group dynamic (this work attracts remarkable individuals) - all effectively woven together through Elena's experience from 27 years of communing with the Birthing field.
January 30th and 31st 2010, Elena Tonetti will be conducting this workshop in Singapore! It will be held at Mind Champs, 51 Changi Business Park Central 2, 10-16 The Signature.
A screening of the video Birth As We Know It will be held on Friday evening, 29th January, 7:30PM at ParentLink, 101 McNair Road, Singapore.

There's nothing like a cool refreshing glass of white wine.

For all those wine drinkers (you know who you are), we have discovered the latest invention that is going to keep your drinks refreshingly cool - introducing Chillbag. Chillbags are a funky alternative to the traditional ice bucket and are ideal for chilling wines, champagne, beers, mineral water and soft drinks.

These handy ice bags come in a range of designs, colours, and sizes. They are tough wearing, re-usable, and can be stored flat packed. Convenient to use, we love them for dinner parties, BBQs, picnics, and pool parties. They can even be used for kid's parties to chill the bottles of soft drinks.

And for just $9.95 these are the perfect gift for that girlfriend that has everything or that office buddy for Christmas (there is a limited range of Christmas and NYE designs).

Even better, the guys at Chillbag are offering Honeycomber readers 15% off - so these handy packs will only cost you $8.50! Just head to the Chillbag website and enter the promo code ERT5634BN - but hurry this promo voucher is only valid until 18 December 2009!

Now you never need to arrive to a party with warm drinks again.
Hallelujah to that!

The gift of something small (or big!) and sparkling is always very special, but have you ever considered learning more about the gemstones you wear? Or even learning how to create your own bejewelled expressions to highlight your style?

Here's a little secret...one that is shared amongst jewellery aficionados serious about their skills and knowledge: there is a small school dedicated to providing expert jewellery education, at a variety of levels, from professional to hobbyist, right here in Singapore.

The Jewellery Design and Management International School, founded by Tanja M. Sadow, an award winning jewellery designer, gemmologist, jeweller and educator, has focused on developing the industry in Singapore and abroad for over 28 years.
The JDMIS provides education and inspiration by means of specialized workshops and academic programmes. Its students come from all walks of life, from industry professionals to casual hobbyists, from college-age students pursuing a career in jewellery to established artists expanding their jewellery horizons.

The school is registered with the Singapore Ministry of Education and its Diplomas and Certificate courses are completely modular: Full time students can stay for 6-12 months, professionals may opt for intensive week-long certification courses, and the casual jewellery lover can even take courses one lesson at a time.

The school's most popular courses are the hands-on jewellery fabrication workshops, where students learn to create fabulous designs using professional thread and wire techniques, traditional metal smithing methods, and even new technologies such as metal clay.

So if you are interested in creating your own style, check out the JDMIS Website (where honeycombers members stand to win a jewellery certification!) or visit JDMIS at their Open House this December 20th from 3pm-5.30pm to see demonstrations of fabrication techniques you can master. RSVP by phone or SMS to the school on 91254107 to reserve a seat.

Inspired by nature, we just love the way this collection features flower-like pods on stems of white gold. And white gold is just perfect for setting sparkling diamonds (and don't we all love a diamond or two!) The range includes earrings, necklaces, rings, pendants and bracelets, with brilliant-cut hand-set diamonds all set in 18 carat white gold.

The designers, Mads Trolle and Lee Antony Gray, chose white gold because it lends a touch of understated elegance to any look and is a fantastic precious metal for setting diamonds. The result is a range that's very versatile.
