It’s a little bit like breakfast; it’s a little bit like lunch. That’s right, it’s our favourite meal on a sunny Sunday: brunch! Wear your favourite drawstring linen pants because you want to be able to sit, graze, relax, and enjoy everything these gorgeous venues have to offer.
Whether you have the kids in tow and want to keep them entertained while you sip a Bloody Mary or you’re after something organic with a bit of culture on the side, we’ll give you the lowdown on 5 of the best Bali brunches.
This is the rock star of Sunday brunches: DJs playing cruisy Sunday morning music, rolling waves crashing in the background, and so much delicious food it’s really hard to know where to start (or when to stop). Take your time and indulge in the seemingly endless array of goodies, topping up your plate with fresh oysters, dim sum, or Peking duck. Just remember to save room for dessert.

If you like the idea of horsing around on a Sunday morning, this is the place to be. Aravina Restaurant at the Bali Equestrian Centre does a really super brunch ; make sure to try their bacon and eggs and ricotta pancakes. They also offer a great kids’ menu. Grown-ups can kick back and enjoy their Mimosa while the kids splash about in the swimming pool, or play on the green lawn that boasts a cubby house, sandpit, and play equipment. If that’s not enough to tire them out then they can have a wee horse ride. Sunday brunch can easily turn into Sunday afternoon without you even noticing.

Ku De Ta
Of course Ku De Ta made the list, it’s the perfect place to spend a Sunday morning. Kids will be thoroughly entertained in the activities corner, where there’s everything from craft to face painting and balloons to a jumping castle. In the meantime, kick back and enjoy the people-watching (very good), the ocean views (spectacular), and the food (consistently good).

If Seminyak glam doesn’t float your boat on a Sunday morning (yes, Ku De Ta… we were talking about you), then head for the hills. The Ubud hills, that is, and go directly to COMO Shambhala where you’ll find delicious fresh, organic produce served in the most heavenly surroundings. Along with your soft cooked organic egg (served with a green goddess dressing), you’ll find fabulously unusual brunch dishes such as mud crab in fragrant coconut and sambal sauce, wagyu beef sliders, and mixed satay with cashew nut sauce. Almond sorbet and ginger caramel for dessert or rose scented meringue? Don’t mind if we have both actually.
There’s the added bonus that you can watch the local girls practice their Balinese dance while listening to the sound of the gamelan.

We have two words for you with regards to this Sunday brunch: book ahead. The brunch at the Soleil restaurant at the recently built Mulia is extremely popular. The buffet is a sumptuous affair with a selection including foie gras, oysters, lobster, and an array of lavish desserts would put the finest patisseries of Paris to shame. You can also order a la carte. Keep in mind that the staff will offer up some small tasting dishes so remember to pace yourself!
