Malaysia’s Best Creative Arts Festival
Wednesday, 23 Oct 2013
Calling all festival fans! Raring for more after 1 World Music Festival? Not to fear, Malaysia’s largest and longest-running creative arts festival, Urbanscapes, will satisfy any festival-lust. Held at the 12-acre Malaysian Agro Exposition Park, Urbanscapes this year is a whole lot bigger – and indubitably better.
What (do) You Know about Irish band Two Door Cinema Club? We’re sure that it’s Something Good (that) Can Work. You Could (or, would) Have It So Much Better because Glasgow-based band Franz Ferdinand will be performing as well (the only Southeast Asian stop of their tour!). Other indie rock band headliners include Canadian twin heartthrobs Tegan and Sara, and Efterklang, hailing from Denmark.
Also featured are some of the hottest acts on the Malaysian music scene: Kyoto Protocol (the band, not the treaty!), They Will Kill Us All (no, not literally), and Oh Chentaku. Some of our musicians are heading across the Causeway for Urbanscapes too! Support our homegrown talent – Obedient Wives Club, In Each Hand A Cutlass, and Plainsunset – at the regional stage.
Can’t make it to the festival? Not to worry, Urbanscapes is introducing satellite shows this year, set around the festival weekend with very much requested acts at KL Live. Danish alternative rock band Mew and Texan post-rock band Explosions in the Sky will be kicking off the festival with the pre-show, while Canadian New Wave Metric will be concluding with a bang with the post-show.
Can’t leave the little tykes at home? We’ve got good news! Kids under 12 years old enter free of charge at Urbanscapes but they must be accompanied by an adult.
