Isan have been creating Handwoven Silk Shawls with Contemporary designs since 1997 in a little village in North-East-Thailand. It is a fair-wages project which supports around twenty families through the weavers’ income. All the weavers are also partners in the Weaving Project and they receive a portion of the profits at the end of the year. Our project allows the ladies to work close to home so that they can supervise and look after their children too.
Each shawl is a unique piece by having a different design scheme or colour scheme. We use the age old techniques of Ikat and brocade to weave. We are also producing silk accessories like purses and handbags with our silk fabrics.
Other than our silk creations we also deal with antique Silver, Lacquerware, Textiles, Wood Carving and Baskets from Thailand, Burma, Laos and Cambodia. Visitors can visit our Home Gallery by giving a call and making an appointment.
