Volunteer Opportunity in Singapore
16 July 2009
So you think your a good person? You don't litter (well it is illegal), you recycle, and you donate to charities. But want to do something that makes you feel really good? Why don't you take a look into some volunteer work, like helping the RDA?
The Riding for the Disabled Association of Singapore (RDA) provides free, therapeutic horse riding lessons to children and adults with disabilities from all over Singapore. RDA Singapore was founded with just 5 riders, and now more than a thousand disabled children and adults have been given the opportunity to ride.
RDA can benefit virtually all disabilities, both physical and intellectual, in children and adults. As well as providing recreation and sport, riders gain increased self-confidence, improved circulation, respiration, balance, coordination and mobility. For someone who is unable to walk unaided, see or has communication difficulties, riding a horse allows them to experience a new sense of freedom and independence. Friends are made and it's fun.
They are always delighted to hear from potential volunteers, especially those who may be interested in sidewalking with the riders and the horses. No horse experience is necessary. So what are you waiting for?
Call now on 6250-0176 or email mail@rdasingapore.org.sg to find out more.
