Hats off

Hats, fascinators and headwear

26 October 2009

Finding a fascinator or stylish hat in Singapore can be like finding a needle in a haystack... And every gal needs a hat, whether it is for a Race Day, a cousin's wedding, or making that so-so outfit into something fabulous. So heads up everyone!

Bespoke hats
So for the ultimate hat, you need a milliner, and Ann Randall is the milliner you need to see. Based in Singapore, Ann custom designs hats and fascinators for clients so they fit like a glove, and compliment your outfit. Her hats are individually designed and handmade, the process taking 4-6 weeks. Most of this time is taken in the design process and obtaining the materials, which are often imported to meet the individual customer's needs. Fascinators start from $200 and a bespoke hat approximately $500. Striking indeed.

Hats off the rack
Although we have sun 365 days a year, there is a limited range of hats in Singapore. Options are limited but check out Tangs or head to Far East Plaza, where you will find a range of headwear from funky fedoras to flat caps.

Fascinators
These hair accessories are often adorned with feathers, beads and crystals are also an effective finery to complete your outfit. Mphosis has a lovely flower fascinator in store now, just perfect for a race day, wedding or christening. Alternatively, you can put your creative powers to work and head to Spotlight to get some feathers, beads and ribbons to make your own. Individuality assured!

Get your head wear ready for next Tuesday's Melbourne Cup lunch at Boomarang Bistro & Bar. With free flow from 10am for just $35++, this one is not to be missed.
