Dining out is lovely. But over priced wine and corkage fees are not-so-lovely. So next time you are heading out, take your own bottle of plonk and you will then get to experience your favourite bottle with your favourite food. Here are our favourite BYO restaurants, where your food will match with your wine.

Sage The Restaurant
This is one of Singapore's hidden gems. With excellent modern-European food, friendly service and no corkage, we just keep coming back again and again. Bring a lovely big red to enjoy with their caramelized grain fed Black Angus beef cheek.
When: Free corkage when you spend a min of $60++ pp on food.
Where: Sage The Restaurant, No. 7 Mohamed Sultan Road p. 6333 8726

The French Kitchen
French food at its best, we are thrilled that The French Kitchen has a free corkage night on Monday nights.

Le Figue
We like this new kid on the block. With good service and well thought out modern European menu in their fresh unobtrusive setting, the package is topped off with their reasonable corkage $30 and free corkage on Tuesdays.

Hi Chris, I rang Chalk and they told me they charge $30 corkage everyday. Maybe you better check with them. Happy New year. Hamish

Thanks Hamish - yes it seems that have changed their policy, which is a real shame! Thanks for the post!

Hi Chris,
This is Lauren. I am co-owner of Chalk, together with my husband, Marcus and also the pastry chef. I became aware of your website after a few of our guests came in under the impression that we do not charge corkage. Unfortunately, you have been provided with inaccurate information.

Please allow me to clear the air for everyone regarding Chalk's corkage policy. Since Marcus and I opened Chalk in October 2008, we have maintained a flat rate of $30 nett/standard bottle. This remains the same everyday of business, Tuesday through Sunday. It is a nett charge, as is everything at Chalk. We do not do ++. We absorb the GST and we do not charge for service, making it very simple for the diner to budget and split bills. If you need any further detail, please don't hesitate to give me a call, on 8222 7787. Cheers :)
