When its 35 degrees outside everyday, why would you want to do yoga in a steaming 37 degrees room? Good question huh. It can't be for the natural sweaty aromas of your class mates... surely...
Let us enlighten you. Hot Yoga's not about the free facial steam, (although that's another bonus), hot yoga provides an amazing work out (burning up to 700 calories), as the hot room combined with the yoga poses and breathing exercises cleanse every part of the body. You walk away with not only the feeling of how-did-I-survive-that, but you have a complete mind & body workout. Omm to that.
Here's the low down on where to go for your steamy sessions:
Absolute Yoga
These guys have great little studios in River Valley, Telok Ayer and now in Friven and Co. We love the new Friven studio, very handy for a Saturday morning session and a quick shop on the way out.
Bikram Yoga
The original Bikram Yoga specialists only have one studio in Raffles City, but they claim to make you 'look good naked'... now who doesn't want that?
Como Shambhala Urban Escape
We love this little boutique studio on Orchard Road. It's the closest thing to a Como Shambhala holiday in Singapore. They also sell the yummy CS body products here - so you can smell like holidays. Oh and the yoga is great too - very attentive teachers in small classes.
True Yoga
True Yoga have two studios in Singapore, and they are more like spa sanctuaries - think zen rooms just perfect to get your head in the right space. These guys do yoga, dance and pilates.
Pure Yoga
Pure Yoga have done a great job with their spa-like studios as well. The central locations of Ngee Ann City and Raffles Place mean you have no excuse not to get to class, and once you are there you do feel like you are a world away.

Well if you are going to do yoga, you need to look the part. The fashion-conscious teachers at Absolute have brought 2 labels Ja'Moire and Chakras by Dee Dee into Singapore. So now we can sweat in style.
