Calling for help!

02 February 2010

Need a new year's resolution? Or looking for some way to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate?

Singapore Council of Women's Organisation's Star Shelter program is in need of assistance.

This non-religious organization helps women and their children who are in abusive relationships and at risk situations. The shelter houses them temporarily, offers support, and ways for them to get back on their feet. Often women arrive when they have nowhere to go and usually because they leave their husbands, receive little or no support from their family network, and the shelter is their only refugee.

The shelter location is confidential as most come with a violent past. Some women are foreign, some are Singaporean, most are in dire situations and Star Shelter helps them rebuild their lives through various things, counseling, finding work, housing, and so on. At the moment, they're in urgent need of Nan Nestle baby formula for two infant girls.

So if you would like to donate, please email Azra, the Star Shelter manager at counsel@scwo.org.sg. Image how good you will feel afterwards.
