Cheap Entertainment For The Kids
Free and super cheap ideas for what to do with the kids
Thursday, 11 Mar 2010
Admit it. We all love it when it’s cheap and cheerful. We spend so much cash on our little angels, its nice to know that sometimes it can a little bit free and easy. Here are our picks for how to entertain the kids without spending a small fortune.
Go old school
Try renting toys from the Toy Rental Club. They can have new toys each month for a fraction of the cost.
Head to a storytelling session at Bookaburra Books and The Better Toy Store. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Why not visit your local library? You’ll be amazed at how much free sessions they have going on for kids.
Since June 2010, local and PR students get free entry to all the main Singapore museums – including the Asian Civilisations Museum, National Museum of Singapore, and the Singapore Art Museum (SAM). Sweet!
Bounce
Check out the trampoline at Loewen Gardens. It’s free and you can get your bounce back too at the coffee shop The Pantry while you watch them burning off their energy.
Now that’s entertainment!
The Children’s Showcase has great entertainment for the kids every 3rd Thursday of every month with free admission. Or hop down to Fidgets indoor play centre at Turf City which is completely free for tots under 1!
Wet and wild
Slide along to Jurong East Swimming Complex for water slides, a wave pool and a kid’s pool. From as little as less than $1 for kids, it’s almost free! Or check out any of the other public swimming pools in your neighbourhood.
Head rooftop to enjoy the free water park at Vivo City or down to the Marina Barrage for their waterworks display – perfect for the under fives.
Top Picnic Spots
One of our fave spots to soak up the sun, the green and blue is Labrador Park. Eastside? Why not hire a bike and head along the East Coast Park to watch the planes take off right above you.
Keeping it green
Wander around the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden at the Botanical Gardens. And stay tuned for the concert freebies in the gardens – the perfect background music to a family picnic.
