Bali - all you need to know

Planning an escape to Bali? To maximise your time in paradise, book in with The Bali Concierge then bee-line it to Seminyak for the greatest choice of top nosh, chic shops and night hot spots...

Sleep
Bali is all about your own private villa and staff. For larger groups try the funky modern Luna2 in the prime Seminyak location. Or a bit further north in up-and-coming Canggu is the relaxing Villa Asante. Chic and convenient, The Dusun is a great option for smaller groups.

Prefer a hotel? The Legian, beachfront at Seminyak is stunning. The Samaya, the other original beachfront hotel also has lap pools a short golf buggy's drive across the road.

Brunch or Lunch?

La Lucciola - the breezy beachside place to be for brunch. Or head up the road to cosy café Biku and browse their bookshop and quirky homewares while you lunch or munch on the best high tea around.

Calling all health junkies - fill up on super vegetarian wholefood at The Little Green Café after your yoga session at Bali Yoga Shala.

Going on an adventure? Order a picnic basket from Grocer and Grind the day before.

Sunset warm-ups

For pre-dinner cocktails, chill at the old favourite Ku De Ta. For something a bit quieter, try Breeze at The Samaya, or the bar and upstairs balcony at La Lucciola.

Hungry? (remember to book!)

Be seen at the bar and restaurant of Sarong - stunning food, cool vibe. We recommend filling up on the entrees.

Try Sardine for some delectable seafood with your romantic ricepaddy view. Or there's Chandi smack bang in the middle of "Eat St" which offers 'haute Indonesian cuisine'. Ultimo serves honest, fast and well-priced Italian.

Drink and be merry

Hang at Ku De Ta for sunset cocktails, try Hu'u Bar for a slightly more chilled vibe or head to The Living Room to party with the European crowd.

Day Tripper

About 40 min south of Seminyak is the cliff-top restaurant and pool of Karma Kandara. Take the lift down the cliff to the Nammos Beach Club for a sunset swim, beer and feed.

Or head past the seafood shack-fest that is Jimbaran, and straight to PJ's to watch the sun go down before enjoying a scrumptious meal at Beds by the Beach.

Shop

We love Workshop 13 for its bespoke leather clutch temptations. Don't miss the fab French designer Magal Pascal and the fun Kiss Kiss Bang Bang both on Laksmana. If you have little ones, go-go direct to Kids A-Go-Go for some colour & cuteness you wish you could bottle.

Last word

The best way to get around is to hire a local driver and car for the day. Costs peanuts. Up for some ceremony action? The Balinese respect strict etiquette and dress at temples and ceremonies - make sure you're on top of Balinese customs to avoid offence. And finally, best season is July to Sept, with party time in Aug. Get on board!
