World Gourmet Summit
01 April 2010The much-awaited gourmet Food & Beverage festival in Singapore sees a delectable selection of mouth-watering events taking place.
Here are some of the high lights:
Grandeur of Wine
This inaugural three-day long event will celebrate the best wines from around the globe.
• 16th April: Opening gala reception will see esteemed trade, media and WGS personalities attending. Priced at SGD 125+ per person.
• 17th April: Held before the Grand Jury Européen, this tasting event will be led by founder Francois Mauss and a panel of 13 venerated wine authorities. Take notes and appreciate some of the world's best vintages, including the 2005 Bordeaux Vintage and the 2004 Italy Vintage. The tasting event is priced at SGD 350+ per person.
• 18th April: Featuring 150 of the world's leading wine labels, this upmarket wine fair is definitely one for wine lovers to mark on their calendars. Admission is SGD 58+ per person.
Tenuta San Guido Wine Dinner Featuring the Cuisine of Andrea Berton
Two Michelin-starred chef Andrea Berton will display his fine culinary skills at this exquisite dining experience on 21st April. Paired with the highly acclaimed wines of Tenuta San Guido, the evening promises to be a treat for discerning food connoisseurs. The wine dinner is priced at SGD 268 + per person.
Culinary Experience at Miele: Up Close and Personal with Michel Rostang
On 22nd April, two Michelin-starred Parisian chef Michel Rostang will prepare his incomparable fare at Miele's show kitchen. A dream for every gourmand, the experience lets you get up-close and personal with the famous chef. A gala lunch and personal cooking session follows. Priced at SGD 488+ per person.
Presentation by Special Guest Chef Ferran Adrià
On 22nd and 23rd April, take a peek into the El Bulli kitchen with two distinct presentations given by the molecular gastronomy genius Ferran Adrià. The first presentation will feature a behind-the-scenes documentary about the world's most famous restaurant, offering viewers an insider look into his visionary ideas, culinary methods and creativity. The second presentation will see the three Michelin-starred chef speaking about the present and future of his restaurant, followed by a cocktail reception. Each of these presentations are priced at SGD 48 each.
Chocolate Dinner
Held on 23rd April, master pâtissiers Gianluca Fusto, Frédéric Bau, Loretta Fanella will pair up with local pastry chefs Vincent Bourdin, Pang Kok Keong and Janice Wong to present a dinner featuring chocolate as the star ingredient. Presenting the savoury and the sweet, the renowned chefs will include an element of chocolate in each course served. Dinner is priced at SGD 188+.
