Rochester House - a Breath of Fresh Air

New kids indoor play centre in Singapore

We all love the smell of something new. Like the smell fresh cut grass, the brand-spanking smell of new leather shoes or that I-must-eat-now aroma of freshly baked cakes hot from the oven. And as we are in constant need of new places to take the kids, we are thrilled to have the scoop on the freshest restaurant concept to open this year. A new park restaurant and playhouse - Rochester House. Ah huh, we can hear the elation already!

Nestled in a historic and conserved estate in Rochester Park, Rochester House is a old colonial bungalow sitting on 30,000 square feet of grounds. After undergoing renovation, Rochester Park Cafe, The Playhouse and The Garden has just opened.

What we love about Rochester House, beside the fact that it offers a play room much like Royce's Kids Gym or Fidget's for $6 per hour, it is clean, new and not very busy at the moment. Right now they are also completed an outdoor sandpit, which will be great for kids that are old enough to leave to play.

This is a perfect mid-week new play centre for the kids.

We went to Rochester Park on Saturday. Yes a lovely location with all the colonial building but cafe and play house were a big disappointment. The playhouse had toys etc inside and all was clean but why would i pay someone $6 an hour for my kid to watch TV when they can do that at home. Come on ditch the tv and get more books, colour in activites etc for the kids. The idea of sitting outside eating our lunch in peace was very appealing and it would of been perfect if the food was good. The food was overpriced and very bland and as for the service. I was quite excited about the roast they had advertised on a weekend. I ordered and was then told sorry no roast today. So i went for a fry up. A cold not cooked tomato, runny egss with no seasoning, cheap undercooked sausages. As for my husbands meal they said it had a side salad. Two pieces of lettuce does not count as a side salad thats garnish. My advice, don't bother with this place until they get a decent cook who can put some love and soul into the food. Go over to Graze. Great food and colour-in table for the kids for free.
