Wheely Wheely Fun
Our top picks: Bikes, skates and wheels for birthday gift ideas
04 June 2010
Clean clothes and mud. Knees and grazes. Fingers and nostrils. Boys and wheels. The two always seem to go hand in hand.
Here's our guide to the best wheels around, starting with those for the little ones:
1. Little Tikes Cozy Coupe
Almost a mandatory purchase for wee ones. Using their feet to propel themselves around a la Flintstones, the cozy coupe delivers a sturdy 'car' experience and will provide years of fun. Head down to Toys'R'Us.
2. Wheely Bug
A cute, zippy, ride-on 'bug' that flies across the floor every which way. Once kids master staying on there will be no stopping them.
3. Didicar
The Didicar gets our top mark for wheely fun. Wiggle the wheel to get this car moving and before you know it you'll be flying along the pavement. No batteries, no pedals, no age limit. Even grandpa can take a spin!
4. EzyRoller
A bit like an old-fashioned go-kart, sit back and use your feet in a 'right-left' motion to propel forward. It moves in a fun zig-zag and will keep them amused for hours.
5. LIKEaBIKE
A LIKEaBIKE has no pedals. Ohhh you say? Just watch them go. Before you know it, they've mastered balance, steering and speed. Training wheels will be a thing of the past. Available at The Better Toy Store.
6. Muji tricycle
A great first bike, stylish and with a lockable front wheel so you can steer from the parent handle at the back. Available for you to check out at the Toy Rental Club.
7. Scooters
Our top picks are the 3-wheeler Mini-Micro for little ones and Razor scooters once they can balance. Check out Bikehaus or 100 Fun Plus, a store on ebay.com.sg.
8. RipStik
Once kids get going they seem to have these permanently glued to their feet. As its kind of like surfing/snowboarding on dry land, who can blame them?
You're never going to yell at them to hurry up again.
