Here's our USA-inspired hit list to get your family involved in America's 4 July Independence Day celebrations.

Eat Up - USA style
Good morning sunshine! Start the family day with a California inspired brunch at CA California. Open from 9am on weekends.

For lunch, New York New York has the full American menu, and while you're there, check out the giant burger eating competition. Giant burger - as in 8 inches wide. Yes, you read that right.

Or take the kids down to TGI Friday's to save on a family feast with their $1 appetisers deal. If ribs are your family's preferred American food, check out the USA-style ribs at Prime Society. We think they're some of the best around.

And for you kids' sugar high, cruise past the Marble Slab Creamery. Using a Texan-inspired frozen marble slab, your ice-cream will be infused with more sugary toppings than you can imagine.

If the outdoors are more your family's style, mosey on down to the Farmers Markets at Loewen Gardens this Saturday for a full range of local and international food and produce.

Fireworks
It wouldn't be 4 July celebrations without your fireworks fix. Head to the north of the island on Saturday for the Independence Day Celebrations at the Terror Club. It's free admission, fireworks, jumping castles and a US Navy Dunk Tank where your kids get to try to dunk the US army personnel into the water.

Hollywood Stars
There's nothing more American than a full-blown Hollywood blockbutster, and that is exactly what Toy Story 3 is shaping up to me. And we reckon you'll enjoy it as much your kids do. (We did!) Or book to be one of the first to see Despicable Me - USA funnyman Steve Carrell's new movie. Get your tickets from Cathay Cineplex or Golden Village.
