Great places for lunch in Singapore

The weight of the world may rest on your shoulders - but you still need to eat. That midday fuelling-up leaves you nourished and energized to tackle any kind of crisis or villain (depending on what you do for work) in the afternoon. Here are some places worth pulling yourself away from your desk (or superhero lair) for.

Value for Money
Our favourite quirky hair salon-cum-café Hairloom & Caramel is offering a crowd-pleasing Summer Lunch Set at just $11.50+. Choose from main courses such as Spaghetti with Ebiko in Lemon Aglio Olio and Black Pepper Smoked Duck Sandwich, all of which come with fresh lemonade or limeade. A long time lover of Bella Pizza down at Robertson Quay, we are more in love now they have weekday set lunches going at $18, which include such mouth-watering offerings like Pizza Margherita and Spaghetti Alle Vongole. It's the perfect place for a quick lunch indulgence with the girls.

Look East
Who doesn't love French fries? The folks at Everything with Fries certainly do, and serve up the spectacular spud in either shoestring or thick cut style, with your choice of topping like Garlic & Herb and Sour Cream & Onion. Oh, and it is "everything" with fries so your chips are accompanied by mains ranging from the standard cheeseburger to the uniquely comforting Creamy Salmon in a Cup. Save room for the Nutella Tart which deserves special mention. This just in: Everything With Fries has arrived at Holland Village too, so villagers, rejoice!

Indulge A Little
So maybe your sales presentation didn't go so well this morning, and you're in the mood for a little pampering. Ember at Hotel 1929 remains a favourite dining hideaway for the movers and shakers in Singapore, and their set lunch is a good way to try some of their signature dishes without breaking the bank. Reservations are a must at this pint-sized restaurant.

Burger Fix
Get your hands nice and messy at Burger Bench and Bar at Orchard Cineleisure. By the same good people from Wild Rocket and Relish, the burgers boast hand-chopped patties in unusual combinations such as Sarawak Black Pepper Beef, Japanese Chicken Curry and Sesame Wasabi Fish. Their hand-cooked crisps are also seriously addictive - you have been warned. And if you're missing The Handburger at Raffles City while it's undergoing a facelift, you'll be happy to know that their new outlet at 313@Somerset offers the same chunky, juicy goodness of their Pulled Pork Burger, and the stunning Stuffed Portobello Burger which will make you gladly go vegetarian.

I'm looking for something good out east? I've been a city dweller for 10 years and now we've recently moved out east, I'm looking for a good place to do lunch, simple and healthy. Salads, roast chicken, vege's, good sandwiches that kind of stuff. does anyone have any recommendations?
