Our review of SK-II

We all love to experiment. Whether it's with our haircut, our makeup, our street stylin' or our beauty regimes. You never know what is going to work - until you try it.

That's why we were thrilled the guys at SK-II asked us to take a 1 month SK-II skin experiment - using our own face as the testing ground.

We have seen the ads, and heard the fascinating SK-II story ... you know, how SK-II's miracle ingredient Pitera was discovered in a Japanese sake brewery where elderly workers had wrinkled faces, but baby-smooth hands... But not until recently did we decide to experience it ourselves.

Three weeks ago we followed Cate Blanchett's footsteps and visited the SK-II counter for a skin analysis and oh-so-sweet free mini facial. The skin analysis is a technical scan using a Visionscope - which involves placing a micro-camera on various locations on your face. This is then recorded in their computer and compared with typical skin for your age. Scary stuff we know!

But totally worth it - not only do you get an accurate report card of how your skin is doing (in terms of texture, tone, pores and elasticity) - the helpful SK-II beauty consultant also creates a personalised skin care solution that addresses your specific problem areas.

And the sweetener? We were whisked away with those dreamy words 'would you like a free mini-facial?' and before we knew it we were catnapping while an SK-II mask was working its magic. Ahhhh the serenity!

To complete this experiment we then dutifully cleansed our faces and applied the SK-II miracle water - the Facial Treatment Essence - on a twice daily basis followed by the Skin Signature Cream. (This cream is so lush, it just melted into our skin without a greasy trail).

And the results? Clear, radiant and smooth skin. So clear and even there's no need for daytime foundation! And no breakouts! We are usually pretty modest (or so we think!), but even the girlfriends can't help to mention how translucent our new found skin is. A return trip to the SK-II Counter reported that whilst some areas remained unchanged, our wrinkles around the eye-area have become less visible and skin has become more hydrated. Yippee!

We have dipped in the miracle water and we are now converted to SK-II.
