Forget the corny teddy-bear hype of Valentine's Day. Instead mark this romantic occasion with something other than flowers and chocolates. Here is our pick of 5 fun and romantic things to do this Valentine's Day.

Couple up, down and sideways
Stretch your partner while you get up-close and intimate in a partner yoga class. Loved by celebrity couples (Brad & Ange, Posh & Becks) Partner Yoga is increasingly popular and has been interpreted in a variety of ways, each offering a unique way to relate deeply with another person. Working with a partner can also help you move beyond your own self-limiting ideas of what you can and can't do, and is a great way to spend some physical time together, outside the bedroom...
When: Sun 13 Feb, 2011, 2pm.
Where: Updog Studio, 902 East Coast Parkway, Block B, 02-05A Playground@Big Splash. p.6438 0887 to book.

Love letters
Love letters can be difficult to pen, but perhaps you can take inspiration from The Substation Love Letters Project - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? Each month a new postcard sized love letter arrives at The Substation by a cast of familiar writers and poets. All you have to do is read each tender hearted confession from this little building on Armenian Street. Nothing is needed in return; no money exchanged--only feelings, and words. The love letters are printed in the form of a postcard and are available only at The Substation in a limited quantity.
When: New love letters each month, until June. Open Mon - Fri 12pm - 8pm, or read them online here.
Where: The Substation, 45 Armenian Street, Singapore 179936, p.6337 7535

Get Saucy
Cooking to seduce is a skill every couple needs to master. And now you can enrol in Kamasutra in the Kitchen, Sweets from the Heart or Valentine's Day Aphrodisiac Dinner for Two at Totts. These classes are hands-on lessons for couples and singles and promise to deliver inspiration creations for your Valentine.
When: Sat 12 Feb, Sun 13 Feb 2011.
Where: Tott Store, 896 Dunearn Road, #01-01A, Sime Darby Centre.

Pamper pedi
If your hubby won't hear of a pedicure (let alone a manicure) we know the feeling all too well. BUT this is the perfect excuse for him to relax and let his manly guard down and enjoy a little pedi pampering. A couple pedicure is a perfect opportunity for some time together, whilst those sexy toes get that sexy sparkle back.
When: check with your salon.
Where: We recommend Juup Nails, 123 Devonshire Road, p. 65 6737 5188

Hit the flicks
There is nothing like dinner and a movie for a relaxing, romantic night out. Whilst there are a number of hot dining venues in this town (read our pick in Love Bites), you need to be fast to catch the block busters on the big screen. Right now, our pick is The Fighter, with Mark Walburg, Amy Adams and Christan Bale, which is a look at the early years of boxer Micky Ward and his brother, who helped train him before going pro in the mid '80s. And it gets the big thumbs up from the critics!
When: on now
Where: Golden Village - book Gold Class for this special occassion!
