Cool Britannia
Timothy Oulton Opens in Singapore
14 March 2011
Bohemian, baronial and slightly kitschy, we love the new Timothy Oulton store which has just opened in John Erdo's old showroom space in Kim Yam Road.
The Timothy Oulton showroom has a very cool Britanna flair. From decorative vintage memorabilia such as the typewriters, washed out flags and old photos (all for sale) to horse saddles stapled to the walls and steering wheels hung to others, the showroom is a art piece itself.
This celebrity loved British designer, has showrooms and galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Madrid and Barbados, and is loved by Demi Moore, Robert Downey Jr. and Ozzy Osbourne. (Uma Thurman was also photographed sitting in one of Timothy Oulton's most iconic pieces, the Mars Chair, for a Givenchy advertising campaign in 2010).
A real boys club feel, the showroom includes an art exhibition area and a living room space where old Hollywood movies are screened, creating an overall atmosphere where creativity is stimulated in a nostalgic and casual setting.
And the furniture? Think antique studded trunk coffee tables and side tables, grand gentleman's style sofas in butter soft brown leather and washed out Union Jack prints, and industrial part-aviation style chairs with studded aluminium finished with ribbed leather.
Purchase a piece, serve cigars and your boys club experience is complete.
Timothy Oulton 81/83 Kim Yam Road, Open: 11-7pm Mon to Sat, 12-5 Suns
