Singapore Shopping Secrets

Not everyone knows the hidden shops and the go-to places for those hard to find purchases in Singapore, like sunglasses and swimwear. We hear of friends paying $800+ for a pair of Tom Fords *crazy*, so we thought it was our duty to enlighten you.

Sunglasses at a steal
If you are still paying waaay to much for your Tom Fords, I have two words for you Andy Sim. Andy is the go-to man for Tom Ford, Gucci, YSl, Dior, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Raybans and more. In fact when you ask him what he has, he describes it as everything except Oakley and Chanel. And his prices? Expect to pay between $170 and $430. The only downside is you have to brace yourself and take a deep breath before you enter the maze of Lucky Plaza to find his store, but we promise you it is worth it!

Vintage sunglasses
If you love the timeless 'black sheep' look of classic vintage sunnies, you are in luck, Singapore has some real gems when it comes to vintage sunglasses. You can start with a trip to the quirky Peninsula Hotel, where between the cowboy stores and guitar shops you will also find Tony Lim's sunglasses store. Here you will find 1970 Christian Diors, Rodenstocks, Silhouettes from Austria and Ray-Bans. Expect to pay between $100 to $350

On-trend swimwear
If you are paying $200+ for a pair of Jets bikini from Paragon, then you need to wake up and smell the lycra. The most on trend swimmers can be found at Topshop, and although the range is fairly limited, if you want to be seen in something that's not from the late 90s, this is the place to go. Head to the new Knightsbridge store mid-week for the ultimate service (we had over 8 staff members approach us asking if we needed assistance!) And you will find bikinis in bright orange and blue and oh-so-cute one-pieces in navy polka dots and vintage prints. Three words: Must have now. And the damage? From $65.
Topshop, #01-05/6 Knightsbridge, 270 Orchard Road, Singapore
