Maternity not Eternity!
Your go-to Singapore fashion Maternity Guide
04 April 2011
Pregnancy can be the longest nine months of your life.
The ever-expanding ass, belly and boobs can be hard to accommodate, especially if you are already considered 'large' in local minute standards. (Yes, Singaporeans, you are officially tiny!)
Here is your go to Singapore maternity survival list.
And if you are not currently eating for two, save or send to your poor pregnant friends.
Keep Cool.
Dress right. Hit Gingersnaps who have great maternity elastic waisted tailored shorts and shift dresses in a range of greys and fluorescents. For long floaty cotton Sunny Girl dresses head to Shopping at Tiffany's where you never know what you might find. Need camisoles with high waists and long silk/cotton dresses, Kaitie at Vama will have you sorted. Still can't find anything, head over to Vivo to see the experts at Egg Maternity, who specialise in just maternity - so have a huge selection.
If you need to dress like a celebrity, shop the A-list looks on Isabella Oliver so you can source that dress worn by Angelina or Gwen & ASOS has great work wear maternity styles.
Keep Covered.
It is always reassuring to pull on your old jeans when up the duff - it means only your tummy has blown out into a new postcode - just make sure you have a Belly Band (available at Mothercare or Maternity Exchange) to cover that ever increasing top-button-gap.
And as for the underwear, there is really one thing you are looking for: comfort. And one place to shop on Orchard: Marks & Spencers. If you are looking for some online therapy, head to Zodee who have Bonds, HOTMilk, Loveable maternity and more.
Keep Calm.
If you are having 'one of those days' you need just three letters: Tea. Try Morning Wellness Tea or why not make some Ginger Tea to ensure you have that motherly glow pregnancy is meant to deliver.
Keep Stretching.
Your baby needs room, and you need to either make it, or he/she will do it for you. That's why yoga throughout pregnancy is recommended, as is Clairns Tonic Body Treatment Oil - a must for every expanding waist line.
And Carry On!
