This weekend only, (April 16 and 17), everything in the store will be 15% off the marked price! And there will be some special items discounted up to 50%, according to Belle & Cheu’s capricious whims.

Can you resist the siren song of the Union Jack armchair? The galvanized steel table covered with rivets? The painting of the clown talking on the cellphone? We didn’t think so.

Although you have to schlep out to god-knows-where to find them, this is worth the effort. These guys bring funky, California-style vintage furnishings together with a sense of place that is distinctively Singapore.

Each piece has been lovingly painted, embellished or crafted by hand. Stalwarts of Singapore ’60s style such as cane chairs and bamboo end tables are re-worked into colorful pieces. Staid mirrors and hotel lobby paintings emerge as vibrant, eclectic artwork. Even your auntie’s cast-off dishes find new life as quirky, hand-painted tableware. Each piece is unique with antique or retro elements.
