Tips to update your makeup

Do you start your day on auto-pilot?

Shower, slap on some moisturiser, maybe mascara et voila - you think you are ready?

A quick-make-up-pick-you-up will make you look and feel a thousand times better! Here's how...

1. Colour Pop
Fun, flirty and fabulous, we are loving all the colours of the rainbow right now. Start with some cool-candy-coloured nail polish like OPI's Gargantuan Green Grape or the funky fluoro Pop Beauty range (available at Sephora).

Next your eyes, while in Sephora, check out their blockbuster palette. With over 60 bodacious, bold colours to make your eyes the star attraction.

Don't forget the lips. Nudes & Gloss are old news. Follow the celebrity trend of a bright lipstick like the hot tangerine Morange from MAC. Perfect to update any outfit, and to make those heads turn. Warning: Wallflowers need not apply.

Tip: if you are going with a bright eye shadow palette or bright lippy, use nudes elsewhere to avoid the 1980s rainbow bright 'Punky Brewster' effect.

2. Back to the Base(ics)
No point showing off a fab new lippy if your skin is looking tired and lack-lustre. If you are too busy for a complicated morning skincare regime, but still want to look glam-azing try a BB Cream. We are hooked on this time-saving cream! Another favourite is Olay Total Effects with a Touch of Foundation. Packed with the Anti-aging & SPF goodness you need plus the smooth light coverage you want.

Finally, conceal under those eyes - it WILL make you look younger!! We love Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclait Radiant Touch - not a bargain, but worth the splurge!

3. Lash-tastic
Old, dry, clumpy mascara is not a good look, nor easy to apply. Replace your mascara every 3-6 months to ensure it doesn't become a breeding ground for bacteria. We love Lancome Virtuose for super length or Dior Extase for the pumped and plumped look!

Still stuck for inspiration?
There are countless makeup and beauty counters all over town with experts waiting to give you that fresh new look you hunger for. Try the Tangs or Takashimaya Beauty Floor. And remember most brands will let you redeem the cost of the makeover on product, all you have to do is ask!
