The Hair Straightener Singapore battle is on.
It’s you versus the Singapore humidity.
The battlefield: Your hair.
Here are your weapons to choose from…
Otherwise known as re-bonding, or Japanese Hair Straightener, this is a chemical process which permanently straightens the hair.
Just like an 1980′s perm – but in a good way – straight.
Best for those with dark hair, or those who don’t have over-processed hair (blondes need not apply!). And if you have curly hair, the re-growth from this treatment is not a good look, unless you are channelling Willy Wonka. In terms of maintenance you need to get it done every 6-9 months.

($150), and Trimmings 75E, Loewen Road ?Singapore, 248845, p.6471 1922 ($280).
This is similar to rebonding, but the chemicals used are less severe. Hair will look relaxed rather than straight, and it is somewhat less damaging. Blondes: proceed but with caution.

You may have heard of the Brazilian Blowout – a new popular hair straightener product about town. This ‘wonder-treatment’ of keratin straightening is not permanent (slowly washes out over 3-6 months) and the look is not as pin-straight as re-bonding, but it has become popular because it actually improves the condition of your hair. Thanks to the Keratin ingredient, this treatment can be used on all hair colours, types and conditions…even heavily treated blonde hair!
But there is a catch…
Unfortunately many of the Brazilian Blowout formulations do contain formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen (yikes!). These formulas has even been recalled in Australia and Canada. We’ve tried it, and loved the result, but do your homework first, and decide if you want to take the risk.
Brazilian Blowout – Formaldehyde Free
Salons are now jumping on the ‘formaldehyde free’ Brazillian Blowout bandwagon, but we hear the results are not as good as the original. We are going to road test this and get back to you. Stay tuned!

If treatments are not your thing, then you must invest in a set of hair straighteners and be prepared to spend a little extra time grooming the mane. We highly recommend investing in GHD straighteners, and only attempting this if you have fine hair, lots of time and a good amount of patience!
