Raising the Bar
[ADV] New Wine Bar verre opens
04 October 2011Too crowded, too loud. Too pricey, too smoky. When it comes to bars, you're a real Goldilocks.
Lucky for you the boutique Verre Wine Bar has opened.
Bringing premium French wines to a stunning riverside location on Robertson Quay, Verre is located in a restored warehouse, and with its floor to ceiling glass façade, you could be forgiven for thinking you are in a modern French chateau.
This unpretentious wine bar was created by two friends who wanted to find the perfect wine bar in Singapore for savouring fine wine in a relaxed environment. Designer Peter Tay (known to many as the celebrity interior designer to the stars) has created a dramatic yet unassuming space. With modern elements: Marimekko fabrics, stainless steel, marble finishes and full wall mirrors, the space is contemporary yet warm.
The real star of the show is the wine tower cellar in the centre of the space which houses over 1,000 bottles of wine, largely from Burgundy and Bordeaux. All wines are hand-picked and sourced from vineyards through personal relationships with wine growers. Just like a farmers market where you can chat to the farmer himself, Verre provides the connection from the soil to the winemaker to the consumer. Unique indeed.
And the best bit?
You can enjoy super-premium French wines by the glass.
We'll drink to that!
