From footy side steps to pirouettes, there are some brilliant classes for kids in this town, here are some that we have tried and tested...

1. Prima ballerina
Could your child be the next Darcy Bussell? DDreamz dance school runs fun ballet classes using music and stories. The classes are a great way of developing self-esteem and physical fitness too. Age 2.5+
We love: Their super-cute outfits and fun but no nonsense approach.
Cost: From $180 for 10 classes
Where: Liang Court, River Valley Road, see www.ddreamzintl.com

2. Child's pose
It's not just adults who can benefit from doing yoga. At new yoga studio, Casa Santosa, kids are taught about yoga and about body awareness, breathing and to be kind and compassionate, all invaluable skills as they grow older. Ages 4-10 (the classes are especially good for older kids). They also do prenatal yoga and will soon launch family yoga.
We love: The kids are all in one class and do different activities together, so it's fun too.
Cost: $30 per class/$270 for 10
Where: 11 Unity Street #02-15, Robertson Walk, see www.casasantosa.com

3. Acting up
Calling all budding actors. Drama classes at Centre Stage performing arts centre aim to develop curiosity, creativity and confidence. They're can even help bring shrinking violets out of their shells. Age 3 ½+
We love: The teachers, because they are so enthusiastic and engaged
Cost: $38 per class (run on a termly basis)
Where: Block 15 Woking Road, see centre-stage.com

4. Art-attack
Wouldn't you rather leave messy play for someone else to deal with? At Impressions Art studio, children can have fun discovering their inner artist and can make as much mess as they want. They can draw, paint or do pottery. There are also various drop-in classes for any age. Mums can even take their babies along to get their hands and footprints painted onto ceramic tiles. How cute! Scheduled classes are for age 5+.
We love: Lots of space, light and a relaxed environment.
Cost: from $200 for 6 art classes
Where: 02-25 Cluny Court, Bukit Timah Road, see impressions-art.com

5. Bend it like Beckham
Could your child be the next David Beckham or do they just like kicking a ball around? Youth football academy, Little League runs classes taught by expert coaches. The focus is on building self-confidence, developing young talent and of course, having fun. AND, it's a good way to burn up some energy. Ages 4-16.
We love: The pitch is covered so rain never stops play, plus it won't get too hot either.
Cost: $90 per term

The freshest new dance studio to hit the scene is Street Beat. Acro Hip Hop classes teach kids basic tumbling and a bit of hip hop, to produce a cool routine at the end of their course. Ages 3-12.
