Crafty & Colourful
You know what we love? Parties. Better yet, we love partying in style.
If you’ve planned any big event, you know that it all comes down to the details… and at least three major freakouts somewhere in between.
We found two crafty elves that will not only relieve you of that stress, they’ll also do an ace job at transforming your party space into a total over-the-top experience.
Read on as these expert designers of In Merry Motion talk us through one of the most intimate weddings we’ve seen – colourful, spirited, and playful – just like a gigantic birthday party for adults!
Whether you’re looking for party inspiration or just tending to your voyeuristic instincts (guilty as charged), you have to check out this eye candy.
Psst! Show Us Your Party is our latest monthly feature – if you’ve got a fab party you want to show off, make sure to email us!

The wedding luncheon was held at the cozy Riders Cafe – the designers loved that they had high ceilings to play with.

To add extra cheer and some visual playfulness, the designers hand-cut bouncy paper poufs and hung them from the ceiling.

The experts agree, “It’s all about the details – no chair should be left without love. Plus the ribbons look great flapping in the wind!”

Here’s a nifty idea: interactive guestbooks to get your guests talking to one another! Weiyan and Joyce of In Merry Motion designed these notebooks that asked questions like “what should we name our children?” and “what should we do on our tenth year anniversary?” and left them on the lunch tables foe guests to fill out.

Opt for a practical favour – the bride wanted a favour that guests would be able to use, so Weiyan and Joyce designed totes for everyone. Kids could cart art supplies around in them, office workers could use them to hold their gym clothes, and they make great grocery bags.

Up the fun quotient! Instead of the usual pocket corsage, the groom wore a blue-ribbon inspired pin.

Forget those boring placards – place cards are another great detail to really transform your party space.

The couple wanted their wedding to feel like a real celebration, so they politely declined foam-type wedding cakes with pre-made knife inserts and chose to have a real cake. They even smashed cake all over each other’s faces!

In Merry Motion believe in three key ingredients to any successful party: people you love, great food, and a beautiful space.
