Kiss and Tell
Sultry Lipsticks for the Season
Tuesday, 22 May 2012
Oh yes, it may be sweltering out, but we’re about to dial up the heat a little more.
Ladies, meet this summer’s weapon of choice: a killer lipstick.
This bad boy is the perfect accessory to any outfit: wear a coy pink for some playful punch in the daytime, then paint the town red at night!
We’ve chosen the best pinks, corals, reds, and deep wines for that perfect pout.
Better yet, they’re super hydrating so it’s time to lose the excuses and pucker up, girls!

shu uemura rouge unlimited in TAO Pink
Make no mistake, shu uemura’s collection is to die for. This latest formulation will deliver the purest of pinks and the reddest reds you’ve ever seen. We didn’t quite believe it ourselves, so we test-drove the formula, and hello, colour stunner!
This bright pink shade is not for the faint-of-heart, but we guarantee it will make an entrance. It’s also highly versatile (not to mention entirely hydrating), but be sure to tone down the rest of your make-up – you are not aiming for the disco diva look.
Available at shu uemura counters island-wide, $39

Lancome Rouge in Love Lipcolour
C’est magnifique! This range launches 23 May 2012 (that’s tomorrow, folks!) and we predict a frenzy of lippie addicts going gaga over this.
With Emma Watson fronting the collection, we knew we wanted in on the scoop. Our top picks? 181N Rouge Saint Honore, a cherry red with cool undertones, and 185N Rouge Valentine, a cherry pink-red with cool undertones. Universally flattering.
Available at Lancome counters island-wide, $40

Sephora Rouge Shine Lipstick in No. 18 Just Dating
Almost like the high beam of lipsticks, Sephora’s Rouge Shine range is unapologetically glossy. This fuchsia shade is bang on-trend this season and at its affordable price (only $20!), we suggest snapping up a range of shades to suit any occasion.
Available at Sephora Singapore, $20

shu uemura in Sultry Wine
Deep wines look best on dark skin tones, so if you’ve got a fair complexion, stay away or risk a 90s Goth recall.
This sophisticated shade is perfect for going from boardroom to a sultry night out.
Available at shu uemura counters island-wide, $39

Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Lipstick in 402
You know that horrid outer ring of lipstick you get when the rest of your lipstick has faded? Yea, that doesn’t happen with this one and that’s why we love it. It stays put, it’s highly pigmented, it’s luxuriously creamy – A+ formula.
Available at DFS Galleria, 25 Scotts Road, Singapore 228220, p. 6229 8100, $43
Currently out of stock but will be restocked in June 2012

Sephora Rouge Shine Lipstick in No. 34 Royal Wedding
Nail the bee-stung look (in a good way) with this fiery shade. Extremely pigmented and very glossy, this red gives the illusion of fuller lips and a juicy pout.
Available at Sephora Singapore, $20

MAC Lipstick in Lickable
We were thoroughly bummed to hear that MAC’s Shop Mac Cook Mac Collection in Quick Sizzle has completely sold out island-wide, but we were recommended a dupe for this terrific bright fuchsia – MAC Lipstick in Lickable.
Lickable comes in a crème sheen so it’s extremely wearable, though bold pink-berry fuchsia.
Available at MAC counters island-wide, $28

Sephora Rouge Shine Lipstick in No. 29 Latin Lover
Orange is a hard colour to pull off, but Latin Lover, while bright enough to be a total showstopper, also gives a semi-sheer finish – which makes it friendly enough for lipstick virgins.
Available at Sephora Singapore, $20

shu uemura rouge unlimited in Hollywood Red
Every girl needs a go-to red lippie, and this baby is a keeper. Don’t expect a poppy red; this lip colour is true to its name – classic Hollywood in a deep luscious red. Dita Von Teese would be proud.
Available at shu uemura counters island-wide, $39
