Kid-friendly Dining Spots
Wednesday, 20 Jun 2012
We all know that eating out with kids can often be a headache, so check out our list of places where the kids can go tumbling without you fumbling.
Central Selection
First up is laid-back Australian bistro, South Coast at Marina Bay Sands, with a proper kids menu, colouring and space to scoot around outside.
Scoot down to Kith Café at Robertson Quay for breakfast. Popular with local mums, it’s got fluffies, toys and space to ride scooters.
Lunch “swiss-style” at Marche, 313 Mall, with delicious, fresh food, kids’ meals and wooden playhouse – a huge hit with kids.
Spruce provides good food and wine, and has an outdoor play area (and deliciously decadent cakes).
Pantry at Loewen Gardens, a popular haunt for mums, offers delicious, healthy food, and also has a giant trampoline and playground.
At Rochester Park, there’s Rochester House, a great place to be with friends. Stick the kids in the indoor play centre and relax!
Or indulge yourselves at nearby Graze, which has 5,000 sq. feet of gardens to play on.
Time Out in Bukit Timah
Craving the countryside? Head out to Riders Café at Bukit Timah Saddle Club for breakfast in leafy surroundings, followed by $10 pony rides (Sundays only).
Picotin at Horse City has plenty of kids’ favourites on the menu, an animal farm and horsey activities at weekends.
Tucked away in an HDB block, Hua Zhu, Farrer Road serves up great Chinese food and has a large run-around area for children.
East Coast Eateries
For great coffee, drop in to hip and trendy Loysel’s Toy in Kallang. Take bikes and scooters.
Italian bistro, La Barca at Goodman’s Arts Centre has a kids’ playroom, so leave your kids and go eat in peace (for a short while).
At family restaurant, Pizitalia, kids will love the T-Rex out front and the supervised indoor playcentre.
Spend a relaxing afternoon at Mana Mana Beach Club where kids can even play on boogie boards and dinghies.
Chic eaterie, Zaffron Kitchen in Katong is the place to go for kid-friendly Indian food. There’s also a play area and baby-changing facilities.
Way out East, but worth a visit, is Coastal Settlement, with vintage-styling and casual dining, plus there’s plenty to occupy kids.
Spend Time at Sentosa
Be part of the cool crowd at Tanjong Beach Club, which has its own pool. Reserve a beach bed and relax all day long.
Spend a lazy day with the sand between your toes at Coastes on Siloso Beach. Bring buckets and spades!
Gardens to Graze in
For casual dining at its best, head to Casa Verde, a Honeycombers’ favourite, in the leafy Botanic Gardens.
New addition to the Botanic Gardens is Food for Thought. It’s relaxed, unpretentious and there’s a fab outdoor kids play area.
Upscale Vineyard at Hort Park serves up Thai, French or Italian. You can walk that big feast off afterwards. There’s a super outdoor play area too.
Head West
Get boat-envy whilst you eat at Prive, which has a terrific view overlooking the marina. There’s a mini outdoor playarea for tots too.
Jimmy Monkey serves up rustic food and even alcoholic milkshakes for the grown ups. There’s colouring and plenty of space outside.
