4 New Cafes to Check Out
Thursday, 19 Jul 2012
What’s better than a hidden find? A hidden find with great food, we say!
We set out looking for 4 great cafes to check out – there’s one for those into healthy eating, one for dessert connoisseurs, one for all you city folk, and a cute vintage-themed diner with vintage automobiles.
Happy eating and remember – tell them the Honeycombers sent you!
Great food which is every bit as great for you. Prepared with only the best organic ingredients, Real Food serves vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and even sugar-free dishes. They also make some mean fruit and veggie juices!
Real Food @ The Central, 6 Eu Tong Sen Street, The Central #B1-52/53, Singapore 059817. p. 6224 4492. Mon-Sun 10am-930pm; Real Food @ Somerset, 110 Killiney Road, Singapore 239549, p. 6737 9516, Mon-Sun 10am-10pm
Chocaholics, let’s get serious about dessert. Nestled in a quiet Braddell Heights neighbourhood, Wimbly Lu serves chocolate the way it’s meant to be enjoyed – rich, sinful, and indulgent. For an exceptionally unusual dessert, be sure to try their Root Beer Cake. Their waffles are also pretty much perfect.
15-2 Jalan Riang, Singapore 358987, p. 6289 1489, Tue-Fri 1-1030pm, Sat-Sun 9am-11pm
At Kooka, you’ll find quintessential café nosh: wraps, and sandwiches, great bakes, and decent coffee. Prices are entirely affordable, portions are hearty, location is central, and best of all – those desserts! We’ll be back for more.
18 Purvis Street, Singapore 188597, p. 6467 0288, Mon-Wed 10am-7pm, Thu 10am-9pm, Fri-Sat 10am-10pm
If you’re looking for ambience, this place can’t be beat. The family-run diner is outfitted with vintage Kombis both inside and out – way cute! But don’t go expecting top-rate nosh; the indo/Thai/Chinese fare is home-cooked, perfectly in sync with the unpretentiousness of a family-run establishment.
66 Yio Chu Kang Road, Singapore 545568, p. 9008 6918, Mon-Sun lunch 12-230pm & dinner 6-930pm. Closed Wed.
