The Coolest Treats in the City
Monday, 30 Jul 2012
If your freezer can’t take any more of you sticking your head in for instant relief, brave the heat and get outdoors for some cool treats – we guarantee they’ll be worth the near fainting spells.
There’s no doubt we like our indulgent desserts, but we’re always looking to cut corners on the calories. The popsicles from Popaganda make that entirely possible – tried and tested, we’ve been on a steady dessert diet ever since! Made from natural produce without any artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and colouring, these sorbets are also dairy-free. Even better: the frozen treats aren’t diluted with water. Crazy flavours include everything from the crowd-pleaser Strawberry-Orange-Banana to slightly kooky Lemon-Olive-Oil (which we are huge fans of).
Find Popaganda at a range of stockists, or order online.
Nothing satisfies a foodie like an Italian kitchen. The Italian gelato at Alfero Artisan Gelato delivers punchy flavours with less milk and sugar (translation: less fat and calories) and without any artificial colouring or flavouring. Try the pistachio, which is only made with Sicilian pistachios for the most nuanced pistachio taste, lemon for a good mid-afternoon zing, and coffee made from Italian espresso beans.

We don’t talk about Toa Payoh very often, but if you’re ever in the neighbourhood, pop by Creamier for a good old-fashioned treat. This popular ice-cream parlour also offers coffee, weekend breakfast, and the fluffiest waffles ever – talk about a one-stop shop. Surprising flavours include caramel corn, horlicks with chocolate chips, pumpkin pecan, and lemon blueberry yogurt – all made fresh onsite without artificial flavouring.
