Papa Palheta Opens New Coffee Bar

No, don’t let the name confuse you – Chye Seng Huat Hardware isn’t a hardware store, it’s a coffee joint.

And it’s not just another coffee joint either – it’s Singapore’s very first coffee bar.

Yep, we’re talking a standalone coffee island bar where you can sit around and watch the barristas pull shots, brew some serious coffee, and perfect every cuppa they serve.

CSHH Coffee Bar is the brainchild of the same guys behind Papa Palheta, which means you can expect some really good coffee here. They just opened this weekend (can we say: what a gift to Singapore!) and pay tribute to the hardware history of Jalan Besar.

And while they may be in this quieter neighbourhood, these guys are definitely not playing it safe; on the contrary, they’re totally pushing the envelope. On top of the revolutionary coffee bar, there’s also The Annex, an exclusive tasting boutique for both coffee lovers and novices alike.

Here’s the deal: The Annex is open six days a week, at 3pm from Tuesday through Sunday, and at an additional 8pm seating from Friday through Sunday. It’s totally experimental, fun, and features an evolving menu based on – what else – coffee. For their first menu, they’ll be serving a three-course session which includes coffee and light bites for $23.

The regular menu includes espressos, pour overs, AeroPress brews, and enticing fresh bakes to go with the coffee. And unlike Papa Palheta, they have a full breakfast and lunch menu! There’s also a retail wall lined with their signature roast and coffee-related hardware – grinders, filters, and even home espresso machines.
