Get your mouse ready for Singapore Restaurant Week October 2012
Saturday, 8 Sep 2012
Guys, we now know what’s in your future:
Come this Wednesday, 12 September 2012, you’ll be furious clicking, fervently booking, and constantly yelling, “I don’t care, clear your schedule – we’re going to eat!”
Because, yes, it’s baaack – it’s the bi-annual Singapore Restaurant Week 2012.
The event runs from 7 to 14 October 2012 and features over 100 restaurants in the city, many of which are top, hard-to-get, and (let’s be honest) expensive establishments.
Those familiar with the concept will know the best part: exclusive 3-course menus for lunch at dinner at these quality restaurants are only going for $25+++ and $35+++ respectively.
That’s even less than the price of a main at some of these restaurants.
(The downside, of course, is some pretty frenzied fastest fingers first at your computer.)
The full list of participating restaurants will only be available on the site come 12 September 2012, but we’ve got sneak peek at some of the lineup, and here are our top picks.
First-time participating restaurants include Forest at Resorts World Sentosa, Roadhouse, SQUE Rotisserie & Alehouse, Pepenero, La Maison Fatien, Shiraz, Praelum, Wan Hao, Marriott Café, Pool Grill, Oenotheque, 211 Roof Terrace Café, Forbidden City, InItaly on Craig Road, and Tamarind Hill at Labrador Park.
Recognize any hot new tables in that lineup? We definitely recommend a date at Tamarind Hill – it’s a fine dining establishment, so you’ll be getting your full money’s worth for just $35+++.
InItaly is a sure bet for stunning food, although we have to point out that its regular menu is priced extremely reasonably. So if you can’t get seats during Restaurant Week, don’t sweat it, just make a lunch date there (hint: regular 2 course set lunches are only $15++!).
Marriott Café is our failsafe option, but daring palates should opt for Forest at RWS, which features contemporary Chinese cuisine that incorporates Western culinary techniques. We’ve been and were impressed with the use of complex techniques, though less blown away by the end result.
And of course, if you’ve already visited, you’ll know that Praelum is pretty damn amazing.
As for popular returning favourites, look forward to Au Jardin, Bistro Du Vin, Absinthe, Buyan Russian Haute Cuisine & Caviar Bar, Garibaldi, Gattopardo, KU DÉ TA, OSO, Salt Grill & Sky Bar, The Moluccas Room, Novus, Jade, Keystone, The Line, Tanjong Beach Club and The Song of India.
We probably don’t have to tell you this, but hit up Au Jardin, Buyan, Garibaldi, and Bistro Du Vin rank pretty highly in our books.
All bookings can be made online from 12 September 2012 at www.restaurantweek.sg.
