Leapin’ Learners
[ADV] A holistic learning programme for 3-6 year olds
Friday, 28 Sep 2012
Want your child to be that all-rounder but don’t know how to get there?
We know the guys you need.
The LEAP Kids programme at LEAP Schoolhouse caters to kids between 3-6 and offers a dynamic structure based on structured activities and learning experiences.
We reviewed their lesson plan and it is chock full of good things!
For starters, this 3 hours a day, 5-day week programme is conducted in both English and Mandarin in a unique 3-2 approach, where children are taught in English and Mandarin on an alternate-day basis.
The emphasis of the programme is literacy. Big Books and readers are used as a prime teaching resource, and phonics is also taught to promote language and literacy, with numeracy and environmental awareness embellished in the approach. The Chinese lessons will include the teaching of the phonetical Han Yu Pin Yin.
Of course all work and no play will make a very unhappy child, which is why the lesson structure also includes free play and physical activities for the kids. There is also an accompanying focus on aesthetics and creativity in the form of exposure to different genres of texts and forms of artistic expression.
Have a really active one? Check out LEAP’s optional extended enrichment classes where kids are involved in all sorts of activities: Taekwondo; music classes; Chinese speech & drama lessons, and movement and dance classes.
The LEAP Kids programme is divided into two levels: LEAP Kids 1 for 3-4 year olds, and LEAP Kids 2 for 5-6 year olds. Each of these classes are conducted every weekday from 9am-1230pm and includes a tea break. The optional extended enrichment components are conducted every weekday from 1230-3pm.
