Gearing up for the Grand Prix this weekend?
Here’s what you need to live life in the fast lane (or for some of us, take a backseat and move out of the race circuit).
Score free cocktails at The Pavilion at The Sentosa. Take up the F1 Cocktail Challenge where you have to race through all three specially-concocted F1-themed cocktails. Down them in 30 seconds and they’re yours on the house – else be prepared to fork out $48++ for all three cocktails. For the less adventurous, take it slow and cruise to your own beat. After all, cocktails at The Sentosa are a pretty neat treat.
Available 1-30 Sep 2012, call 6371 1421 for reservations.
Party like a rockstar
Of course The Podium Lounge is the ultimate A-list party to gun for. Plus, for the first time this year, Dom Pérignon will be hosting an exclusive VIP section for all 3 nights and releasing six bottles of one the world’s most covetable bottles of champagne – the Dom Pérignon Vintage 1995 White Gold Jeroboam.
Prepared to booze and party hard? Then start early. From just $100 a pop you get to be part of The Bacchanalia Brunch Series, a champagne-filled daytime party that includes a three-course meal and a highly-anticipated celeb DJ, DJ Cassidy, who hails all the way from NYC.
Bacchanalia Brunch Series, Sat 22 Sep 2012, Marina Bay Sands Ballroom A Level 5, 1230-6pm.
More MBS action at Ku De Ta, where you can watch the race via a live broadcast or from, of course, 57 levels up. Western Australia’s No. 1 DJ, Kenny L, will spin Fri 21 Sep and Sat 22 Sep 2012, but come Sun 23 Sep 2012, Ku De Ta will play host to Miss Universe delegates. You do the math.
Dine like a king
Nurse that hangover with a slab of steak. Morton’s of Chicago Singapore will be open for an exclusive one day only lunch on Sun 23 Sep 2012 form 12-430pm. A three-course set lunch is priced at $125++.
Morton’s of Chicago Singapore, Mandarin Oriental Singapore, 5 Raffles Avenue, 4th storey, p. 6339 3740.
Good food alone not enough? Let’s throw in a great view. Over at Equinox, you’ll get to watch the race from 70 storeys above and feast on a five-course F1 set dinner menu at only $165++. Note that window-side tables are an additional $50. A la carte options available. Call 6837 3322 for reservations.
Meat eaters and big spenders, there’s only one place to be at: Wooloomooloo Steakhouse. There’s a minimum spend of $200 per person on Fri-Sat 21-22 Sep 2012, but it’s the Sunday package that’s the real clincher. For $600 a person, you get to enjoy private dining areas, an open bar (!!), signature free flow canapés, and a prime viewing location overlooking turn 9. Call 6338 01261 for reservations.
Need to get away from the racetrack? Head to the Orchard belt, where Rev Up @ Orchard will be staging a 10-night musical soiree featuring homegrown artists. Catch them in front of Mandarin Gallery and you’ll be singing to a different tune.
