Laksa with Boston Lobster, Wagyu Beef Satay, Abalone Pau…
They say you shouldn’t mess with a good thing, but boy are we glad these guys don’t care much for old adages.
On 20 Oct 2012, Singapore’s best hawkers and master chefs will come together to raise funds for TOUCH Community Services, in support of over 20,000 beneficiaries of TOUCH, including children from low-income or single-parent families, youths at risk, needy families, people with special and healthcare needs, and the elderly.
The culinary masters, all handpicked by top Singaporean food blogger Dr Leslie Tay, will recreate Singapore’s best-loved dishes in an “ultimate” version using premium ingredients at the Ultimate Hawker Fest 2012.
So who’s who again?
The chefs are all experts in what they do – you’ve got Jacky Tan, the grandson of Tan Yong Fa, who invented the Kueh Tu Tu; fourth generation “beef kway teow” maestros, Hock Lam Beef; celeb chef Eric Teo of the Singapore Chef’s Association; Mr Ng of Hill Street Char Kway Teow fame and Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, among many others.
And what’s cooking?
The full menu’s here, but highlights include seafood Kueh Pie Tee filled with scallops, lobsters, prawns & mussels; Poh Piah filled with sweet lobster meat; Brioche with butter & kaya (also available in durian and cinnamon sugar); Kueh Tu Tu in unusual flavours like brie and honey, chocolate, and the usual peanut and coconut; Laksa made with seafood bisque and Boston lobster; premium loin ribs in Song Fa’s signature Bak Kut Teh peppery clear soup; Geylang Lor 29 Fried Hokkien Mee, and Mao Shan Wang Durian Cendol.
Coupons for the charity event can be bought online or at the Millenia Walk Service Desk. Each coupon sheet is $50.
