[ADV] Tennis stars in our backyard? Yes, please
Thursday, 1 Nov 2012
We’ve seen them on TV, scrutinized their backhand, watched them sweat and cry, supported them through sore wrists and recovering ankle injuries, and yes, of course call them by their first names.
And for the first time ever, we’re about to host these tennis superstars right in our own backyard of the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Tennis buffs, meet the Clash of Continents, a spanking new tennis championship that brings together four world-class tennis stars from different continents in one showdown.
When:
The inaugural 2012 edition is happening the weekend of 24 and 25 November 2012 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Players will be battling for pride, honour, glory… and prize money totalling over half a million US dollars.
Who’s who:
The heat is on for Kei Nishikori (JPN) who’s repping Asia, Janko Tipsarevic (SRB) who’s representing Europe, Mardy Fish (USA) for North America, and Juan Monaco (ARG) for South America.
There will also be a special women’s exhibition match on Sunday, 25 Nov 2012, between Daniela Hantuchova (SVK) and Peng Shuai (CHN).
Kids included:
Don’t play tennis, but the sport’s piqued your interest? Head down anyway to the Kallang Tennis Centre for the Clash of Continents – Tennis Festival on 24 and 25 Nov 2012 from 9am-12nn – both kids and adults will get a chance to get acquainted with tennis. Admission is free for this tennis clinic.
And more world-class entertainment:
Who can forget the beautiful Leona Lewis (of ‘Bleeding Love’ and ‘Better in Time’ fame)? This three-time Grammy Award nominee and British X-Factor winner will be making an exclusive Singapore performance on Sunday, 25 Nov 2012. So even if you aren’t a tennis fan, this dynamite singer might make a convert out of you yet.
