Eat well, do good

Here’s an idea we adore: instead of splurging on a fancy Friday night out, head to a hawker center for dinner and donate the money you’ve saved to someone who needs it!
Some very clever cookies have organized a regular event known as The Hawker Sessions and will be kicking off the series next Friday, 14 December 2012.
It’s a dead simple concept: you donate a couple of dollar on top of every drink you order, and the money that’s collected at the end of the night goes toward a person with a very specific need. Lots of small donations can make one big difference.
Each Hawker Session aims to raise a targeted amount that will help one family with a one-time donation, which will hopefully make a difference for a lifetime.
The first event will be held at the Zion hawker centre opposite Great World City and aims to raise at least $1242 for Madam S of the Tan Tock Send Hospital Community Charity Fund HELP (Helping ElderLy Patients) programme. The funds raised will help Madam S. purchase some items that could make a big difference to her day-to-day life.
More event details at the eventbrite page – RSVPs are not mandatory but are highly recommended.
The first Hawker Session will be held Friday, 14 December 2012, from 730-10pm, at Zion Riverside Food Centre Centre, 70 Zion Road, opposite Great World City.
