Spring Collection at Lulu Yasmine
There’s not a lady in the land that has shopped Laksmana in Seminyak’s Oberoi area and resisted the cool graphite beckoning of the Lulu Yasmine flagship store.
Racks of colour-coded bohemian chic silks, crepe, voile and chiffon line the walls and the season toppers hang alluringly in the window. These are flanked by prints as exotic as the places that inspired their design – the silk fairs, fleas, temples and marketplaces of Brazil, India, Marrakesh. This is the grown woman’s candy store; we’ll have the cami in every flavour please!
Spring ’14 is in store now, with two collections defining the looks of the season, Marrakech Mood and Elements. Striking reds, burnt orange and cobalt blues contrast with signature flesh hues and a dab of Oriental botanic. Flirty feminine dresses are accented with tough-girl leather accessories as well as trans-seasonal strappy sandals. There is even one bejewelled emerald saddlebag made of camelhide which, we admit, smells as funky as it looks.
The woman behind the beloved label is everything you expect and exactly what her patrons will have in their mind’s eye. Intelligent, exotic, creative and enterprising in spades. And at the same time warm, feminine and stylish, with a cool nonchalance – even in the Kerobokan traffic, that we suspect belies hot Latino fire in her belly. But you will have to wait to hear more about Lulu in our upcoming Hello There Honey interview.
Lulu’s fashion pedigree was forged out of years spent in design, styling, visual merchandising and sales for European fashion houses. She says she now designs for women who dress elegantly and without effort. It’s about to get easier to do this from wherever you are with the launch of Lulu Yasmine’s online shop. Not to mention the exciting opening next month of the label’s new flagship store on Jalan Petitenget.
To be quite frank, shopping Lulu Yasmine is a process of elimination. Start with the premise that you will want to take everything home with you and work as sensibly as possible back from that flight of fancy.
And if it all gets ugly, step away from the dress, slowly, with your hands in the air.
