Celebrity chefs, exciting master classes, fierce cook-offs – all of these (and more) will collide at Marina Bay Sands’ Epicurean Market when it returns for a second year as part of integrated restort’s Formula One celebrations.
Slated for 12 to 14 September 2014 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, the gastronomic extravaganza promises to be bigger, better and tastier than before with an amazing array of gourmet food, fine wines and activities in store.
Made Fresh
Built around an indoor picnic theme, this edition is all about fresh produce, so expect a massive food fair, farmers’ market-style, that showcases an delectable range of sophisticated dishes and well-known wine labels from over 50 participating restaurants. Keep an eye out for big names including David Thompson (of upcoming Thai restaurant Long Chim), David Meyers (who’s set to open his Asian-and-Western-inspired dining spot in 2015), Tetsuya Wakuda (Waku Ghin), and Sky on 57’s Justin Quek cooking up a storm at the event.

Zoned Out
There’ll be various special zones dedicated to holding the event’s many activities, including the wine appreciation area for vino lovers and the central bar area, where you can watch mixologists in action and get a taste of their signature concoctions. Need a jolt caffeine or sugar? Then hit up the gourmet coffee and dessert zone for a variety of coffee blends and a dizzying slew of sweet creations. Plus, do some serious grocery shopping at the Fresh Food Market while you’re there, and let the little ones have their own fun at the kid’s zone, which features interactive craft workshops.
Take it from the Pros
As if that’s not enough to keep you busy, the Epicurean Market will also host a series of culinary master classes and workshops during the two-day fair. Not to be missed is the mystery box cook-off, where chefs Jonathan Kinsella of db Bistro Moderne and David Almany of Osteria Mozza challenge each other in a battle to create a dish using only ingredients found in the mystery box within 60 minutes. What’s more: pick up tricks and tips like creating light aperitifs and building your own home bar at the cocktail demonstrations. Kids can also join db Bistro Moderne’s pastry chef Benjamin Siwek in an interactive baking workshop where he shows how to make chocolate chip cookies and marzipan animals.
