What:
Make your own playdough at home - cheap and cheerful, and the kids can choose their own colours (and stuff to add into it - sequins, glitter....)
Use:
2 cups of plain flour
4 tablespoons of 'cream of tartar'
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
1 cup of salt
2 cups of boiling water
food colouring
Whisk the dry ingredients so they are aerated and lump-free. Then put all the ingredients into a bowl and mix. It may not look as though it will mix well but hang in there, then throw it onto the bench to knead and it will come together.
Add in glitter, sequins or sand for something different...but not rice - it goes mouldy!
Tip: *Add peppermint oil for a great smell and even longer lasting playdough...
